thickums87 9 Posted April 9, 2013 I'm currently on my way to surgical weight loss after a few minor set backs with my old doctor leaving me without even telling me he was quitting! I have Aetna insurance and they have a lot of requirements before they approve you of surgery. Do anyone who has Aetna have any advice for this newbie? Jacqueline Marie 73 Posted April 9, 2013 I have Aetna... It really all depends on what type of insurance you have. For me it has been a bit tricky. I had to swtich Dr.s to find an in-network Dr... 3 months with a nutionist, 1 EGD, and 1 psych exam. Many people have to get other testing done... but so far this is all I've had to do. Biggest thing... the hardest thing to do is to wait...Good luck.
thickums87 9 Posted April 9, 2013 Thanks...I was seeing a nutritionist but the dates weren't consecutive so I believe I'm going to have to start over with them. Have you gotten your date

Shawn Morrison 71 Posted April 9, 2013 Yea I was told that they had to be consecutive. I also had to do 3 months with PCP with the intent of weight loss, 3 months with the NUT, 3 months exercising and 3 months with the psych. After that I was approved in 7 days. Good luck. thickums87 9 Posted April 9, 2013 So I have to do three consecutive months with each? I started my process on January 29th. After my surgeon bailed on me I'm pretty much at a loss because I don't wanna start over.

thickums87 9 Posted April 9, 2013 Have you had your surgery yet?
Shawn Morrison 71 Posted April 9, 2013 It really just depends on the individual policy. Either contact Aetna and get their policy, I was able to find it on their website as well or just call your new surgeon. I know mine has a wonderful nurse that makes sure all of that stuff is handled and she reviews it all so she/he would be able to tell you.
