Baby Food for Puree Phase

Recommended Posts

I have already pureed chicken and portioned it out into an ice tray; I removed the frozen cubes and placed them in a Ziplock freezer bag. I just don't like how the pureed vegetables turned out, so I bought some stage 2 baby food squash, carrots, and sweet potatoes. Has anyone else tried baby food for the puree phase?

It is a good idea but remember that you really want to stick with eating Protein at this stage as you really are consuming so little food.< /p>

I was thinking the same thing about eating baby food too, how does the puree chicken taste? not real sure about what eat for post op

I pureed my chicken with broth and a little garlic powder; it tastes okay but it's a little bland.

I puréed everything, just like I did for my kids. Even meatballs, meatloaf, etc. split pea Soup was good too. I ate a lot of cottage cheese and Greek yogurt (both nonfat)- but sometimes wanted something hot too. Fat free refried Beans were awesome too. I just found that beans, meat, mashed cauliflower (great alternative to mashed potatoes but you have to add some Protein powder) were things I had to eat much slower than cottage cheese and yogurt.

I have a 3 yo, and remembering what the savory baby foods smelled like still make me cringe and shudder. I would avoid prepared purees in favor of making some yourself. They are seriously nasty.

Please read the labels on baby food... lots of sugar & sodium.

I purchased the baby bullet. I use it to make my baby's homemade baby food with and it has a great recipe book.

Hi guys, if you buy the Baby Bullet it's a great way to make your own fresh baby food and it cost about 3-5 a week to make a weeks worth of stuff....

I have a 9 month old and I make food for the both of us. I have two great baby food cookbooks. It seems the key in most recipes is spice, spice and more spice. We also expierament a lot. For instance steamed carrots with apples, pears, peaches or apricots (all steamed) are quite yummy.

Smoked salmon is great puréed or mashed well with dill or tarragon and lemon or lime juice or a horseradish sauce. Baby can't get enough of it as well. :)

Also, I use a lot of dal in the foods we make. Moong dal, toor dal and Chana daal but I'm not counting carbs. If you like Indian food you won't even notice it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
