Hi Everyone,

I'm a little over 8 months post op and I've had a major decline in my vision in the last 4 months. I go for my annual eye every year as scheduled, my first post-op visit was a month after my surgery and all was well, my vision declined a bit but nothing major well sometime between then and now its gone down tremendously.

My vision now with my glasses it what it was before without glasses. My Dr said even with a new RX my vision wouldn't be anywhere close to 20/20. After dong several tests he referred me to a specialist since he wasn't able to figure out what was going on.

He also stated that most of his patients have in increase in their vision or it remains the same. I've read that some people experience issues right after surgery due to certain medications however this didn't start until months after. Please let me know if you have experienced an issue similar to this or know of anyone who has.

Hi, I'm sorry that you're having to go through this. I'm preop but I'm also a nurse and have never heard of this complication. The first thing that comes to mind is are you taking your required daily Vitamins? I'll do some research and see if I can come up with any additional info.

Well it may/may not be related, but I'll share a story from my weight loss attempt 3 years ago. I was diagnosed with diabetes & lost a fair amount of pounds without a short amount of time (about 50-60 within 4 or so months). One day I put on my glasses and the world was blurry & to say that I freaked out was minor. I ran to the doctor & basically it had been due to osmotic changes with my blood sugar. Diabetes can be hell on your eyes. The good news is that 1. it was temporary & 2. it was a sign that I was getting some repairs done as opposed to damage. So, although they've probably considered already looking at it.. maybe it's due to blood sugar changes? Although, with my story the thing I hadn't noticed is that my vision without my glasses had temporarily improved. So, maybe not.

Diabetes is what I'd been thinking too, but I'm no doctor, it's just something that ties weight and vision together. Let us know what you find out, and inquire about blood sugar. Maybe there's a hormonal imbalance causing it...

Thanks for your responses. I had my blood sugar levels tested about a month ago and all was well, I've never had any symptoms of diabetes. I'm truly puzzled and trying my best not to completely freak out!

Hm, well I'm glad that its not diabetes! Have you had an MRI of your head? Maybe there's a tumor... Not to scare you at all - I actually had a benign brain tumor that was pinching my optic nerve and it was just treated with medication and is gone now.

It might be worth asking about. Let us know if there are any new developments. You're in our thoughts and prayers.

After my visit my dr said that I could have swelling on my brain or some leakage of something... Hearing anything about my brain terrified me but hearing your story makes me feel better.

I won't know more or be able to schedule my MRI until after my appt on the 25th.

Oh I'm right there with you. Don't worry there are tons of easily fixed brain related issues :) good luck!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to the post! I did a search of medical research articles to see if any vision changes were reported. I couldn't find anything. I think the suggestions provided here give you a good place to start with your doctor. Good luck and please keep us updated!

Hi, I hope your problem has resolved or you've had a convo with your doctor about it. But I was watching a video on YouTube about a person who's had the sleeve and started having vision problems. It turns out she had a Vitamin D deficiency. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
