So I totally let the excitement of seeing the surgeon on Thursday and just nearing the end of the pre-op process get the best of me. I've gained 3.2 lbs since my last weight check at home. I'm not discouraged just mad I allow myself to eat emotionally still. Grrrr.. Back to the grind today tho.. chocolate Protein Shake for Breakfast here I come! Have a good day my sleeve friends!

Monnica :)

I'm right in your boat Patriotsfan. I had been doing really well but really messed up this wknd. Went to a birthday party and another get together and ate everything I shouldn't. The only thing I stayed away from was alcohol. I'm back to my French vanilla Protein Shake this morning.

It is hard, but I'm doing it. Can't wait to fill up on my chicken broth and natural applesauce! Oh Yum! Lol Which brand do you use for Protein Shakes? French vanilla sounds good! I only use the Syntrax Nectar sweets in chocolate, I can handle the strawberry, but the vanilla tasted like a cake batter and I couldn't get it down. I'd love to get creative but I'm really fussy. Ideas??

Right now I'm drinking generic slim fast shakes, mostly to make sure I'm at my starting weight when I see my surgeon for the last time on April 24th. I can look at food and gain weight!!

So do you have a surgery date yet or is that what the 24th visit with the surgeon is all about?

No. My insurance requires a 6mo supervised program. I'm finished May 7 so I will hopefully be approved a few days after and will be set for surgery the end of May. The surgeon won't give a date without insurance approval first. How about you?

Most definitely!! I'm loving the feeling of I'm not alone in this. It's great knowing other people are going in around the same time as me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
