So today I am 4weeks out, and have felt pretty good, until Saturday I started having some pain around me biggest incision (but on the inside).....is this common?

I too have been having issues since Thursday. I am three weeks out and was doing great, no pain. At work I lifted a box I shouldn't have and now it is horrible. Whenever I sit, stand up or bend over I have a horrible pain by my right side incision. I hope yours feels better soon.

yes it is common. It is usually due to to much bending over or just generally over doing it. Mine acts up if i bend to much, then it gets really painful and a bit swollen. My doc said this is normal and not to worry, just take it easy and in a day or so it will feel better.

Thank you for the reassurance! I actually called this morning and they said the same thing. I guess I'll slow it down lol

Butterfly, is it a stabbing pain? Maybe you should get that checked out just to be safe! Good luck!

Be careful. I got a hernia doing too much too soon. Felt so great, I over did and my incision tore on the inside.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
