zuzuv 0 Posted December 3, 2006 Hello I just heard about lap band surgery and joined the forum. I do not have insurance and I am not sure if I can afford the costs. As you know, we cannot get any information of costs up-front. Can you give me an idea of the average costs or how can I get more information? Glad to have found this forum Z
mcwms 0 Posted December 4, 2006 Welcome! I am not yet banded but hoping to schedule the surgery within the next 30 days (had to push it back a couple of weeks). Most surgeons will provide the costs up front- I am self pay also and my quoted price is $14,500 which includes all pre-op appointments and testing. The fills are not included with this, however, and will costs me $100 per fill. Many posters have said that their fills are included in their up-front costs- so try doing a search and see what information you find! Hope this helps! Good luck! Devana 0 Posted December 4, 2006 Welcome Z, I'm glad you found us. You may want to peruse the Doctors and Hospitals threads to get some of the information you need. Good luck with it all.
beachgirl 2 Posted December 4, 2006 Welcome Z, Congrats on your decision for a new life. Mine was 8500.00 for everything from start to finish. Free fills for life. I had mine done in Mexico with a surgeon who has done more than anyone, more than 7000. I had Anthem BC/BS and they don't cover hardly anything. Good luck with your insurance. That's the route to go if you can stand jumping through their hoops and waiting. I was just too impatient. Welcome to lbt.
flabuless 18 Posted December 4, 2006 Welcome Z It is way worth the cost if you can scrap the money together to afford it...My parents paid for mine but I did have insurance so it covered most. Keep us updated...
