This book is a must read. Very informative. My coordinator now references the book to post and pre op patients as an excellent references for all stages of vsg? I highly recommend.

Alex, loved the book, wish I had known about it pre-op. Clearly written in a calm tone, it should be given to every pre-sleever!

One observation - many books come with a "trouble shooting section". Whilst I am not advocating medical advice, perhaps a chapter on common post- op issues might be helpful covering things like Constipation, slimed etc?

Thanks for your feedback. It's greatly appreciated!!!

Since you purchased the book, you're well aware of it's size. I don't call it the BIG book for nothing :D I found it quite difficult to cover every single topic - in depth. Once I hit 450 pages I knew I was in big trouble.

I plan on releasing a book in the near future that addresses common post op issues. It's going to be called "Life after Weight Loss Surgery: Tips and Tricks for Losing Weight and Living Well" We also plan on adding areas to this web site with more info and answers to commonly asked pre and post op questions. Stay tuned......

Alex, got mine on Kindle which always makes everything feel shorter :-)))

What you are talking about for the revise sounds great. As do the plans for this site too. Anything that makes info easier to find - especially when you are desperately looking for it - is very welcome.

Will keep an eye out for all this!

I've ordered both this one and the lap band one. I don't know which direction to go, so I want to thoroughly research both. In addition to these forums, those books looked like the best resources. Good to see some positive feedback.

I've read several books on the sleeve. I downloaded this one to my Kindle, and I have to say it is BY FAR the best book of them all. It is the most comprehensive and informative, very readable even for a "beginner." There is a lot of repetition in it, but that's not necessarily a bad thing! I would say if a person could only read one book before deciding on the sleeve, THIS IS IT.

I just bought this book 3 days ago and I'm loving it .... it DOES explain A LOT!!!! It's truly a must read...I've even suggested to my counselor to pass on to other people who are having the sleeve done or even someone who is just considering the process...Thanks for the Book...It's just what I've been looking for

I purchased this book & found it very interesting and helpful in my journey to get sleeved. I'd recommend it for those getting sleeved and their family members so they can understand the process.

Thank you for this book! I read it cover to cover prior to my orientation/nutrition class with my surgery center. I was shocked at how many people in the room had no idea what the surgery entailed, which for me I found VERY frustrating! I kept asking myself....where is the room for the "educated" people? (LOL) Again, I wonder how many people self-select themselves out of the program as they have no idea what they're getting into. I am committed to being successful on this program and new way of life and I thank you for having this book available!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
