Got it and I am finding it very useful. Being pre-op, I tend to continually seek out new information on living with the sleeve. This book has allowed me to focus on learning the information I need and spend less time trying to Google the right combination of words that may or may not lead me to accurate answers. There's also all that information I never knew to seek out. Highly recommend!

Just ordered mine through Amazon.com. I can not wait for its arrival. Yes I went old school and ordered the paper copy vs. downloading through Kindle! I love the smell of a book. :)

Both...

There are 11 chapters (226 pages) that deal with Pre-op care and 8 chapters (200 pages) that deal with Post-op care.

It's from when you begin to decide about ALL weight loss alternatives, through the decision to sleeve, all pre-op phases, surfery, recovery, and the post-op as you build your new life. THIS IS A GETTER and A KEEPER!!!

It's a good book to have in your arsenal, for sure. Just remember that it doesn't take the place of your surgeon and dietician or nutritionist; keep in mind that there are different schools of thought regarding appropriate diet, what's allowed and when it's allowed, etc. so don't be surprised when you find some things don't match.

That said, this is an excellent overview and provides a number of useful tips and reassurance to help get through the process

I got mine on my Nook...very informative, I would recommend it for anyone Pre or Post op! I would say it is as important as your measuring cups, scale, and Protein shakes!!

I read the book on my kindle and was very impressed - I can never know too much when it comes to this surgery. There were things that I learned from the book that weren't anywhere else.

This is a great book! I got it a week prior to my surgery and poured over it all week. Now, post surgery, I am continually looking back at it for information and advice. Thank you!

Very good idea.. But.. I can't help but feel a bit weird about someone who has not been sleeved, writing a book about the sleeving procedure with what appears to be little academic referencing. I'm sure it's well researched and is very helpful, but...

Hahaha, well should we be sleeved by a surgeon who hasn't been sleeved? It's a compendium of ideas, and the BEST part is that the authors / editors are looking for ideas to make it more helpful. There are a LOT of great information sources on the web and elsewhere... it's nice to have this "put together" for us.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
