I eat cinammon chex...but not very often. If I need crunchy or sweet, might as well get whole grain!

If you're going to do Cereal, I might suggest going for a higher-protein one like Special K Protein or Kashi, and eating with some Greek yogurt instead of milk--will keep you fuller longer.

I could have lived on Cereal alone before my sleeve. Now, I do Special K, only when I crave cereal, which isn't very often.

I actually think even the high Protein cereals have too many carbs and not enough protein to make them worth eating. On the other hand, I think all sleevers should eat a serving of Fiber one every day. Best dietary fiber source known to man. It will certainly keeps things regular. Trust me on that.

I agree, but if someone is planning to eat cereal, I think it's better to do some protein cereal and Greek yogurt vs a sugary cereal or high-carb cereal and milk. I've sprinkled about 1 or 2 teaspoons of special K protein cereal on my Greek yogurt 2x so far and didn't have any adverse effects. But I wouldn't eat a whole portion of it.

No doubt. Special K is a much better choice than fruit loops. The reason I suggested the Fiber One is most of us do much better with our protein than we do with our fiber. The sleevers diet is woefully low on fiber. A half cup per day is just about all the fiber one needs....it's that loaded. And it has no sugar either so there is very little negative effect on blood sugar and insulin levels. I will say this, I have overdone it a couple of times with the fiber one and the results were.....not good. 1/2 cup is plenty. :)

I used to love cereal but I can't eat it anymore. It has too many carbs...I swell up when I eat it and it doesn't keep me full for very long.

Thanks BB, good advice. What are your thoughts on Bran Buds vs Fiber One?

I take a fiber suppliment to aid in my lack of fiber from food.

I have never tried the bran buds but they are a good alternative nutritionally speaking. They do not have quite as much fiber as fiber one and they do contain some sugar....not a lot but some. I am insulin resistant so I try to stay away from sugar as much as possible.

I tried cereal last night with milk and it was very uncomfortable. I'm thinking maybe because of the liquid with solid food. I'll have to try it with Greek yogurt. Thanks!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
