I was sleeved on August 17th and coming up on my eight-month surgiversary. So far I've lost 90 pounds. I'm so excited that I have lost 90 pounds. I feel better than I have in a long time, I am in the smallest of my small-clothes-reserve (we all have them, right?), but I have hit a serious stall. I know that stalls are normal, but this stall has been going on for months, since January (it's April now). There's no way that I would be "done" losing yet, right? I'm totally grateful for 90 pounds, but seriously...I'm still 90 pounds from my goal! Has anyone had this kind of stall? Any help and advice anyone can offer would be awesome! Thanks!

Congratulations on your weight loss so far--that is amazing! What type of food and exercise plan are you following? Are you still seeing a dietitian?

Have you try increasing your exercise, Water intake, or even calories for a couple of days to break the stall? Are you tracking the calories? If not, maybe track it to make sure your not taking in too many or too little. That is one serious stall you've got going. I hope it breaks for you soon. Hopefully you are still losing inches even if the scale doesn't move.

I would mix up my exercise routine. I would mix up my food. If you have been eating the same things over & over and the same with the exercise, you just may need a new routine to jolt your body back into action.

90 lbs - that is so awesome! I am so jealous!

Good luck!

Your weight loss is amazing, I hope to see the same success once I am sleeved (coming up soon). However, I was told by my surgeon, that I could run into a stall around 6 months. And this sounds like what you are seeing. He told me this was due to the amount of weight that I wanted lose (and it seems we both are pretty close to goals). He said that if I noticed a stall, it could be taken care of and not to panic but it was possible. Being that we both have a lot to lose, more than the average on here, I would assume it has to do with the amount of weight we are shedding. So my suggestion is to go back to your physician or nutritionist as it is something they can help you with.

I haven't changed my diet drastically, I always eat Protein first, try to stay low carb. I exercise 3-5 times a week. I will try to increase my Water intake. The inches are coming off slowly, but the scale isn't moving. I really want to start losing again!

Thanks for the insight, I will definitely check with my nutritionist! I'm glad that someone else has knowledge about the dreaded six-month-stall! :)

Yes. I have had stalls last for months at a time. You get used to them as you get farther out.

Thanks for your post! I feel like I am exactly where you are and its hard not to feel discouraged because we have come too far to stop losing now! I think I need to try to drink more Water and maybe bump up my intensity at the gym. I really wish you the best, I think we will get past this. Or at least I will die trying ;-)

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this frustration! It gives me hope that my sleeve is not defective! I'm with you, I'm hoping we get past this, or I'll die trying as well! Let me know how you're doing and what you did to break your stall! :)

If you are getting all your protein/water, exercising and limiting carbs, your body may just be taking a break. You can still lose inches during a stall, tho. I've gone down a size or 2 during my stalls. You can try changing things up for a few days, sometimes that will break a stall. More exercise, different exercise or intensity, more liquid, more Protein, etc.... It will happen, I know it is frustrating, though.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
