Anybody regretted it, even with no complications?

I beginning to feel your pain!

It's awful! I catch myself telling my fiancé to slow down every time he eats! He's good with proportions but the speed...yikes! And what really irks me is seeing parents put way too much food on their children's plates and tell them they have to eat it all. The "clean plate" theory works for me if you dish out normal portions, but that's how I ended up with such a weight problem! It hurts me to see kids being taught the wrong way to eat.

I was an emotional eater' date=' loved food. Everything I did surrounded food. Still to this date I go out to eat and have learned to order small Protein first always. I push my food around a lot. I would drink 8 coke zeros a day. Since January 9th, Water only and don't miss my friend (coke zero my fix) at all. I will tell you when I got my first meal at the hospital and it was an oz of Soup and an oz of Jello, I thought oh crap I have really messed up. I had my surgery January 9, 2013, and nothing taste as good as it does when I slip on my clothes and it feels AMAZING. I now eat to live, and don't live to eat. I would do it again, and feel better than I have in years. It was not easy, but it is possible for a better way of life and health. One day at a time, it is worth it to me.[/quote']

I completely agree with you! My motto is. "Nothing will taste as good as skinny is going to feel". It's what I use to check myself back into my strong willed mindset! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

I regret having the surgery. I did have complications but even beyond that I regret it. I didn’t give it enough thought or research before choosing to have it. I wish I’d never done it. It is freaking me out that I could eat something now that will make me throw up and that I have to spend months and months figuring that out. I want to have coffee and sweets and beer. Right now I’m on a feeding tube and Protein Shakes and Water. I’m praying that once I can eat food and start being able to add stuff in that my feelings will change. But I’m realizing that food was a much bigger part of who I am than I realized.

GIVE IT TIME!! It DOES get better, especially once you can have solid food again. The only thing I regret is that I allow myself to 'graze' too often, so I am only maintaining at 150 lbs lost instead of losing. I am 5 years out from a vertical sleeve gastrectomy, with no complications.

You're very vulnerable right now. Just focus on getting past this part, be good to yourself

I felt the same way. I was in the hospital for 5 days after became I couldn't eat or drink anything. Everything tasted really sweet including water....lol. You are going to be very emotional for the next few months. I just take it one day at a time. You got this. It will get easier. Good luck to you.

I remember feeling the way you do when I first had my surgery. Lots of doubts and regrets came rushing at me. However, in November I am 6 years out from my surgery. I enjoy coffee, wine, light beer and indulge in a little sweet now and then. The difference is....it's a treat to have these things and I only take a bite or two of dessert instead of eating the whole thing. Usually my husband and I split something.

You sacrificed a lot to go through this surgery, but the end result will make you so happy! We spend most of our time at our Florida house and my friends there are so supportive and compliment me all the time. Find your "people", they will be your lifeline.

Good luck and keep everyone posted! It will get better.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
