Does anyone know if its ok to have this early on? Most doctors will say wait until week six when you are past risks from healing phase. Not completely past risks, but far enough. The caffeine may irritate your stomach or it may not. Good to ask your doctor. I started drinking coffee again at week 6, but my NUT said we never had to give it up. Oh well, better to be safe then sorry as they say. 2 MrsG and ProudGrammy reacted to this
washffpm 56 Posted April 7, 2013 I had my first cup of coffee the day after surgery in the hospital. I was told by my doc (same doc as fiddleman) it was ok to drink. I have at least 4-5 cups per day. E-girl 98 Posted April 7, 2013 I only drink Decaf coffee but my doctor said to avoid caffeinated drinks in the beginning because it dehydrates you and since you have to get 64 oz of Water in a day it would not be worth it. Dehydration can be very dangerous and slows the healing and weight loss process. Caffeine also stimulates acid production that can cause acid reflux. I didn't have an caffeine (ice tea) for the first 6 months. Now I drink it all time.
