Feedback on the Top 10 lists

Recommended Posts

I appreicate the hard work of the mods, etc. to keep the board up and running. This is an incredibly useful and supportive place. I also know change is essential to survival.

However, in my opinion, the new Top10 lists present too much information on the homepage. It's too overwhelming a visual to take in and be useful at first glance. I liked having the top 5 recent posts and the newest joiners. But to see the top 10 posters and the top 10 thread starters is too much information. People come here to read the threads. With the stats at the top, it makes it appear that this place is stats driven instead of information driven. It also stretches my screen.

As these pieces of information are interesting, perhaps you can move them to the bottom of the screen with the list of people currently online. That way if people want to see them, they can scroll to the bottom to view them. Or maybe you can have that info customizable by user? Or in an expandable view so each person can click the subject to view the related statistics.

I know that no one asked lil ole Nathalie her opinion, but I thought I'd share it anyhow. :uwelcome: I design marketing materials, and part of my job is to make webpages, brochures and marketing collateral pleasing to the eye. I couldn't help but provide a bit of feedback on the recent changes to the site. Take it, of course, for what it is: one person's opinion.

Nathalie :(

WOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Thanks SO MUCH - I couldn't *see* the little arrow because the stupid stats stretched my screen to BFE.

Thanks, Alexandra.

Problem solved.

Let's vote....who wants top 5 and who wants Top 10 ? ;-)

I'm OK with either 5 or 10, however the "latest posts" column sticks way out to the right on my computer. I actually have to move the screen to see the latest postings. I don't know if it's just my computer or how it's actually set up. If it's not mine, I wouldn't mind seeing the "latest posts" moved to the left since that's what I use the most up there. The most "top posters" doesn't change much over time.

Saying this, I want to make clear that I'm not complaining. I'm very grateful to you, Alex, for this site and as well to all the moderators. I'm so very happy to have found you all.

Not to sound at all ungrateful, as I know it was a lot of work, but I too would prefer to have the new posts to the left, so I don't have to scroll my screen left to right unless I have a need to see who the top poster is. As it is, when I scroll to the right to view it, then it has to go back to the left for the posts to be in correct viewing position.

Maybe like Nathalie said, towards the lower screen with the current users, and chat room activity, birthday area.

It really doesn't matter, I am gonna be here using it anyway!!! And I do appreciate the efforts to keep everything updated--you rock!

Kat

Do you still need to move your screen to see the latest postings ?

I do! It extends to far to the left and I have to scroll over.

*edited* Never mind, I can actually see the important part of the new post easily!

Alex -

I totally love you. YES! It's all better. No more scrolling to see what's to the right of my screen. Thanks for your responsiveness and all of your hard work to keep the site up and running so smoothly for us all.

You rock!

Nathalie

Service with a smile....wow I had forgot all about that!!!

Seriously tho--thanks for caring what we thought about it, I know it was something that took a lot of time.

It is great now, we can see all we need to without moving the page!

Thanks again!

Kat

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
