CHRISSY1 5 Posted April 7, 2013 Is there any 1 that got approved just because of bmi of 40 or
Itsme! 98 Posted April 7, 2013 I'm not sure which weight they used to approve me. I started at 44, dropped to barely 40 at the end of my three month nutrition plan. No comorbidities (documented, anyhow) 1 CHRISSY1 reacted to this

erp 2,016 Posted April 7, 2013 Usually they go off of the weight your surgeon's office sends over as part of their authorization request. If in doubt call the insurance company directly and ask them.

mark! 449 Posted April 7, 2013 It doesn't matter if say, one person gets approved with a BMI of 40+ when it comes to what your insurance company requires, and the coverage your employer elects to include in the plan. There was a friend who's insurance company didn't even look at BMI unless there was an existing condition, it was a necessity to have a co-morbidity WITH a BMI of over 40 for him. Without the existing condition, he would not have met insurance/employer requirements. He was diagnosed with sleep apnea, so he was approved. I would look through your insurance paperwork, or call your HR to get the information as sometimes when dealing with the insurance company, one person will say yes, the other will say no. Not trying to be the bearer of bad news, but each company sets their own restrictions, company as in the company you are employed by.

aquitenonnymouse 206 Posted April 8, 2013 Mine was higher than that, but my insurance required 100lbs of excess body weight or certain comorbidities. 1 CHRISSY1 reacted to this
