Pear shaped vs Apple shaped?

Recommended Posts

I'm a pear at my thinnest and also at my heaviest. I don't think your basic shape changes. You lose weight all over, but your proportions stay about the same. My waist is currrently about 10 inches smaller than my bust, and 15 inches smaller than my hips. I've lost about 24 inches from all over my body, and I'm pretty much the same ratio as I was at the start, with the only difference being my abdomen is thinner/flatter. I was never big busted, and those puppies are deflating!! Still, it's better than the alternative ;)

I nursed all 3 of my kids for a year minimum and my boobs seemed to get larger :/ I'm a 36K right now but that's the new sizing system. I think a K is a DDDDD in the old system. The only thing going down has been the band size. I can totally relate to not getting a reduction lol. If I could stay a DD or DDD after a breast lift' date=' I would be so happy. I don't want implants though because I think you have to get them changed every 10 yrs or something like that. I haven't had any back problems thankfully.[/quote']

I nursed 3 too and they were huge during and then after they went back to a 36F bc I was still fat now not so much like I said 36ddd but not very dense tissue. My back hurt like crazy before though with the weight and the boobs.

I have had lap band in which I lost 200lbs in 14 months and then 7 yrs after I had my lap band it slipped and I had it removed and I was 7 weeks pregnant so they wouldn't revise so I gained 100lbs but I am now down 55lbs down after my revision. The first pic is me at 150-155 after my first weight loss the 2 nd is me 45lbs down after this weight loss. I am pear shaped also(yuck) but as you will see at 150 I look great. I am 5'8.

Wow your pictures are probably the most amazing before and after! Awesome!!! You look so young! Did you have alot of plastic surgery?

All I can say is wow!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
