MsZeta 1 Posted April 6, 2013 I'm 2 weeks post-op and on phase 2. I take Pepcid 2x a day. Whenever I drink, even Water, it feels like it stops in my throat or chest & then goes down. Sometimes I burp. Most times I don't. According to my PA, I should be able to drink as much as I can tolerate because she said liquid just passes through my stomach. Any one else have this issue? Briannasmom 7 Posted April 6, 2013 Hi MsZeta what you are feeling is normal. Think about a funnel with a small opening. That is what the opening of your stomach is right now. It will take a little more time for the swelling to go down and let some of that backup subside. If you try to drink too fast the air gets in too and that doesn't help things drain any faster either. It took me about a month to be able to drink anywhere close to the way I used to. Just give it time and continue to do more sipping than gulping. LOL
mark! 449 Posted April 6, 2013 Yup, still some swelling going on. At 2 weeks, I was sipping very small mouthfuls of Water or I'd get the feeling you're getting. Think 1/4 mouthfuls, if you're thirsty you just have to train yourself smaller sips more frequently. I'm part camel and always drinking water, so it was hard at first, but once that swelling goes down everything goes back to normal in terms of water drinking. 1 MsZeta reacted to this
