Last night, I ate 4 boiled shrimp, one tiny bite of beef sausage and one bite of broccoli salad. It was too much and I ate way too fast. End result....I threw up. Afterwards, I felt like a human again. We were at a dinner party and I was just caught up in visiting with the others around me. I am still learning about taking 25-50 counts to chew before swallowing and taking at least 20 minutes to eat a meal. I was sleeved on 2/26 and am still learning. Down 41lbs though, so still happy. Mad at myself more than anything for overeating.

Thanks for posting this, I am just over a week out and I just know eating too fast (or slowing down rather) will be a challenge for me.

I am 9 weeks out and still having a problem with eating too fast, but I am getting better and knowing how much i can handle. I have thrown up maybe 2-3 times from just eating too much, and taking a drink too soon after.

I have always been known as a slow (but steapdy) eater and I still have to slow myself down and chew more. Hardest thing is to wait between bites

the waiting between bites is hard, but even harder is focusing on the food in my mouth. Sometimes i'm not thinking and before I know it, I've swallowed before thoroughly chewing my food and I immediately get discomfort where I have to wait a while or I take a papaya enzyme to help with the digestion.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
