Not able to eat mashed potatoes. Alot of foods not doing well with. My taste buds are like crazy right now. Not able to eat eggs, I guess I'm sticking to liquids or my tomatoe basil Soup. Its the only thing that tastes good.

I'm with you. Tuesday I was able to eat an ounce of mashed potatoes-today no. Yesterday I could eat a 1.5 ounces of tuna-today no Today-nausea with anything solid/soft. I went back to my Soups too. I'm 3.5 weeks out. Everyone says it will get better!

I was able to eat everything. Now, egg salad just tastes horrible to me as well as tuna, and I had been eating these all along. I was sleeved on 02/11/13. I'm hoping that one day I will enjoy eating those again, but am leaving it alone for now.

I'm so scared to eat anything right now because I hate the feeling I had when I ate the mashed potatoes. My chest and back hurt and it was an air bubble I guess. Going to try tuna tomorrow maybe???? Ugh I'm getting frustrated with not being able to eat soft solids.

Why are you choosing mashed potatoes for eating ( so high in carbs)? You might try scrambles eggs instead during e soft foods stage or something like oatmeal.

Have not heard of Melba bread. I suppose I could google it, but generally have a no bread policy. it is not good for our stomachs. Instead of starches, try for lower GI foods like eggs, puréed chicken or salmon. You want to get Protein first. You can purée almost anything during soft foods, but sometimes just drinking Protein shakes is easier.

Melba is a very soft bread and is small. Like at least 3 would the same size as a regular slice of bread. It isn't made with white flour either so it is better for you.

I am sticking away from bread to but it is because of the calorie/carb issue. Is bread bad for a sleeved for any other reason? I have has a 1/2 A slice here and there with no issues. I had a few pieces of sushi tonight too with the rice and no problems. I see my doctor next week and can't wait to tell them what I'm eating so if it is wrong they can correct me. So far every time I ask it is a standard response of in moderation. I only have 2 days of soft food left so trying to stick to it.

Is it bad? Dunno. No personal experience with bread post op. I have heard bread can get stuck in your stomach if you are not careful. It can swell and be very uncomfortable. That and the carbs / starches are not good for you nutritionally. It would better to eat Protein or vegetables. If you are going o eat carbs ( which you should later on), you want to have low GI carbs. In other words, you want carbs that break down slowly and do not cause an insulin spike. Raw honey is l good in moderation for sweetening.

Anytime I eat bread I feel like I swallowed a brick so I pretty much stay away from it. It's weird how our tastes change because that was one thing I thought I could never live without and really I could care less about it. Did I mention how much I adore my sleeve!!!!! :D

Hey had anyone tried sugar free Ice cream???

I did, only because it was on my list of things I can eat on the soft foods, but I was never a big ice cream eater. I did well with it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
