Recommended Posts

I'm having my vsg with dr Valenzuela on May 28th. Excited and nervous too. A bit apprehensive about how my lifestyle is going to have to change. Anybody else going to Dr Valenzuela around that time?? I'm going alone so would love to have a buddy!!

I dont know the time as of yet..' date=' and im keeping this from most ppl so i have No oNe to talk to :( and those who know don't get it[/quote']

I've heard a few people say they didn't tell anyone either. I, on the other hand, have blabbed about it to anyone who will listen since November. So far everyone has been happy for me so I know I've been very lucky. I've encountered a few questions of why this avenue but no negativity yet. This forum has helped a lot and my husband is awesome. My co-workers are even taking turns doing my liquid diet with me pre-op. If you ever need to talk feel free to message me!

Yay Kristy26! Finally another 5/1 sleever!

I've kept it to myself until the past few days. Now my director and one other person in our office know, and I Fb messages my siblings to let them know. Everyone has been supportive except my sister inlaw has been silent. My boss and coworker want a copy of my diet so they can do it with me. I went over it with them yesterday and I don't think they'll really stick to it but the gesture is nice :)

I just got my approval - waiting for that since January. So it looks like I will be a May sleever too. I have my pre-op appointment 4/19. Still need to schedule and endoscopy. Can't wait till I have a surgery date:) And I'm also scared, nervous and excited!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
