No game 14,437 Posted April 26, 2013 I love plain greek yogurt mixed with Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix as a dip for cucumber rounds' date=' sugar snap peas, celery, and carrot sticks. I also love it with blueberries. I buy the little frozen wild ones from TJs. I like them better than the big ones so it feels like a treat. I feel you Laura-Ven. It's going to be a lifetime struggle for me to stay away from the sweets and Snacks. I'm really hoping it will be like when I quit smoking. At first, I was consumed by wanting a cigarette. Now, 20 years later, I still occasionally want one, but it's so much easier to say no and the craving is pretty rare. Lynda[/quote'] Ha I bought blueberries also to go with my yogurt! I'm ready in case the night munchies strike again!
No game 14,437 Posted April 26, 2013 From my post today on "wagon thread" Obsessive thinking! So I never tried my plain yogurt last night because I'm sick as a dog and watch out I'm a big cry baby when I'm sick... I pouted when my husband went to work in the ER this morning, Why do they get his care, not me! Anyway can't eat... BUT IT HAS NOT STOPPED ME FROM THINKING ABOUT FOOD! I think about all day all night, if I wake up in the middle of the night I think about it, I think about it more than I've ever eaten it (thank god I'd be 1000lbs) I torture myself thinking about it.. I need to think about why I think about it.. How many years of therapy and its still not figured out.

Girl you need to get out more....just sayn' (Sorry you're feeling bad too...that doesn't help) Go to the gym, take a walk, put on some hip hop and hipity hop. Wash the cat, pet the car....do something other than letting your brain engage you in thoughts that you don't need to think about. Whenever I get this way, I go find something to do. Not necessarily alone if you get my meaning . But just go....gotta house diy project that you needed to get done, but have been too crap assed to do it, now's a good time. Engage your brain, don't let it engage you!!! You know you got this. MAN-UP! 2 Butterthebean and SpaceDust reacted to this

Go to edrefferal u can find specialist in your area! That's how I found mine! Pu initial session and it helped a bit already --- cbt works best for eating disorders-- it almost will always get worse before it gets better! Good luck!! Also it was suggested on here somewhere to read beyond the refrigerator by Linda -- almost done! Great book realllllllllly relate! SpaceDust 585 Posted April 26, 2013 Take care Laura. Drink plenty of Water. Delegate to the husband and kids while you are not feeling well. I second this! You have minions - let them do the work! :-P Seriously, though, take care of yourself. You'll get over it more quickly if you allow yourself to get lots of rest and as Fiddleman said, drink your water. deltadawn817 106 Posted April 26, 2013 I know there are many people out there that are not addicted to food that are over weight. They just don't take the time for themselves. I wasn't a food addict but I was medicating with food when I didn't know I was at times. I know I didn't eat my first meal of the say till noon with being up at 7 and then I would eat again at 3-4 pm then again sometimes at dinner 6 pm and then again at night before bed at 10 so all my food was in the later part of the day as I just took care of myself last. 1 TES reacted to this
Nicolanz 1,484 Posted April 26, 2013 I'm just brainstorming here not calling anyone out, but wouldn't self medicating with food be a form of addiction? I mean, if you didn't have food to self medicate, how would you feel? Would you think about eating until you gave in? Would there be any side effects? A lot of people eat a lot at night because that's usually when you're not busy. I know that's the case for me. I still get up off the couch, stand in the kitchen, stare in the fridge, then realize what I'm doing. Maybe it's just habit but what's the difference between a habit you can't break and an addiction? 7 brandnewbie, LipstickLady, Ms.AntiBand and 4 others reacted to this
lsereno 2,525 Posted April 26, 2013 Laura-Ven, Hope you feel better soon. I too spend a lot of time thinking about food. What I'm going to eat next, what fits into my plan, what can I stock up in the house. I agree CBT is a good therapy (suggested by someone earlier in this thread). Esp. the all or nothing thinking. I can't have 50 chocolate eggs right now, so my life is over. Sometimes I have to remind myself that they are not going to run out of whatever treat food it is that I'm craving and I can JUST HAVE SOME LATER. I did that when I was quitting smoking too. Every time the craving got so bad I couldn't stand it, I told myself, for Christmas, I will have one cigarette. When Christmas came, I didn't need the cigarette. Exercise, new clothes, new lip gloss, new lotion, fun trip with the kids to the park (I love going to see the baby animals at Emma Prusch park or Hidden Villa), or computer game all help distract me too. 1 No game reacted to this

Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted April 29, 2013 When I look at all the postings talking about being addicted to food, I just get so angry at our food industry and how they process foods with high fats, sugars, and salt. The old mighty buck has contributed to the majority of obesity in our country today.... So sad..... I have been pretty good about staying away from these things by staying with foods from the earth with very little processing but find myself looking for the sweet taste of sugar. went on vacation and ate out most of the time and those foods are highly contaminated with all the processes out there...... Time for me to get back to eating just the basics.......... (sighhhhhhhhhhh) 5 No game, FeeIsMe2, ShouldBlittler and 2 others reacted to this
