avanti 92 Posted April 10, 2013 I always thought that I was not addicted to food.. One reason I still think so.. is because.. after having the sleeve.. I dont really miss food.. all I really miss is chuging water.. food.. not really! I go out with friends to buffet lunches and I expect to feel depressed or something.. but don't.. But the scale has a different story to tell.. I have no linking for carbonated drinks before.. do not drink alcohol...don't smoke.. even without the sleeve.. I was eating less than 800 calories a day.. that low calories was partly because I worked/studied for atleast 16 hours a day.. and did not care much about eating when I was working.. lunch was my only meal.. and slept for less than 4 hours each night.. But.. then came the weekends.. and I would eat.. breakfast.. lunch.. and dinner.. well under 2000 cals.. but more than twice of what i used to eat the rest of the week.. umm.. and I wondered why I was gaining weight! all I am eating is a salad for lunch each day! I screwed up my metabolism.. thats' why! Just before I had the surgery.. I took a new job.. and don't work for more than 8 hours a day.. I sleep for atleast 7 hours each night.. (havent been able to do that for the last 11 years..) I actually get in more calories now after the sleeve..but not sweked towards the weekends.. So..honestly..now.. I dont know if I am addicted to food.. am I?

Sound like you're having fun, though! I've never been a big s'mores fan in reality, as they always have seemed like sweetness overload to me, even when I was a kid. They're fun to build for someone else to eat, so that's how I get my pleasure from them. I do like an occasional toasted marshmallow by itself, though! No game 14,437 Posted April 10, 2013 I just said this to Leeann71 but I wanted to say it here too... Once an addict, always an addict lurking, for me at least, right now. My name is Laura I am 4 months out, and I am food addict or overeater what ever you want to call it, I am working on it everyday. I I thank you for letting me talk about it. And for putting up with me on the days I'd rather just act a fool and jack up all the threads! 5 Ms.AntiBand, SpaceDust, Molly3 and 2 others reacted to this

Our tastes change simply if given enough time and food porn has no place in our acquired taste now. We no longer like the surgery, salty, fatty or foods from before now that our body is getting used go a healthier way of being refueled. Not saying smores are food porn, but you know what I mean (cake, donuts, fast food, etc). By the way, credit goes to Space Dust for the injection of food porn into our lexicon here on VST! 2 Ms skinniness and No game reacted to this

leeann71 539 Posted April 10, 2013 Laura I do know what you mean by addiction. I know my self that food is not the only addiction I have had in my life. The most scariest part for me is if I continue to give up the foods that I love, are the past addictions gonna creep back in my life? I used food to get past the old habits that I use to have. I just hope that we can all make it past this obstacle course that we are on and be able to stay strong enough to win this war.

Leeann71 you can have past addictions creep up on you when least expecting it. now that your food addiction is under control, it's time to work on alleviating that part of your addictive behaviors. Make sure you find something more healthy to replace the food addiction with. Some of the people on here have started exercising and they love it.....I wish I could get there and so I am working on it. We can all overcome our food addictions, it will take trial and error and a lot of time. but we will beat this! 1 leeann71 reacted to this
missmeow 156 Posted April 10, 2013 I think obesity is more complicated and physiological than simple food addition. The mere fact that ghrelin removal has such a dramatic impact on hunger drive only emphasizes this. If you're truly a food addict thats good you can identity it and work through it. But that doesn't mean one person's circumstances apply to all or that if someone says they're not an addict that they're in denial. Bad habits/socialization and disordered eating are factors as well. Just my thoughts 3 johnlatte, Ms skinniness and Butterthebean reacted to this

No game 14,437 Posted April 11, 2013 I think yes we all have different reasons for eating. I believe we can have more than just one issue with food....addiction, hungry all the time, love of "rich" food, conditioning. Because every time someone said here "I don't have a food addiction I just eat because... " I eat for all those reasons too. What does that make me??? I don't know. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
