On a serious note, those who push their sleeve (apparently, not us) beware of the consequences. You may think its a good thing to repeatedly push to the limit, but it could be a deadly game. That's what I did with my band and paid a price.. With my life. I refuse to do it with my sleeve and I'm glad the majority of us are on the right track. Learning the new life of a healthy recovering addict is the only way we can be what we truly want to be

BTW.. I looked up Psycho Donuts, THOSE ARE WICKED and I just may have to taste one when I'm down that way!

I started a thread about those damn donuts because my husband TRIED getting a dozen for our camping trip today! 4 hour car ride with donuts and two fighting kids...... I think not!

Since you brought up donuts and are already familiar with the Mill Creek town Center ( based on our prior discussion on Top Pot donuts at UW bookstore), check out Frost donuts. It is across the parking lot from the Cold Stone and UW bookstore. I know. I know, what were they thinking putting all these places of food sin in close proximity like that. :) Anyways, Frost has some pretty wicked donuts that you will not find anywhere else. They make it a point to be creative and weird about it.

I prefer the top pots over the frosts if I were eating donuts just because I was/am crazy about their apple fritters ( sorry Laura). I will be avoiding that Bermuda triangle of sugary goodness. Heh.

I'm so glad that I've never really liked ice cream...lol! Actually, I made Protein ice cream (same ingredients as a protein shake) for my birthday last month and I liked it better than I used to like regular ice cream. I thought I would miss crunchy, salty Snacks, but for some reason I don't. Small blessings.

He he' date=' she asked for it. :)

I would definitely not eat one of these ever again. It is one of those Desserts where the calories are so bad that you fail to even want to think about how many there are. Eating cheesecake at Cheesecake factory is like this also; especially, Chris's Crazy Cheesecake. Another one of my ancient indulgences. Hope I am not making anyone hungry. :)

By the way, don't you live In Monroe? I think they built a cold stone there a few years ago by the red robin. I always was 1/2 serious with my wife that we needed to create a franchise in Lake Stevens in Frontier Village. We would make so much money and capture all those ice cream people who have to drive to Everett for their cold stone fix.

Now I think we would be too late as Cold Stone is winding down in popularity. The glory days were in the last decade. I think it is because the nation has made a general turn towards being more healthy about 5 years ago.[/quote']

I like good cheesecake, and I think Cheesecake Factory cheesecake is tasty. Fortunately, one piece of it makes 2 or 3 Desserts for me (still evil, but not quite the same level of gut bomb!).

They closed the Cold Stone in Monroe a few years ago - I think that the franchise owner got into financial difficulties.

I think you're right that the glory days of places like Cold Stone and Krispy Kreme are past. I think cupcakes are beginning to fade, as well.

Frost doughnuts are definitely dangerous if you get there before they run out of the funky and fun flavors of the day. We generally manage to avoid getting sucked in by that "Bermuda triangle of sugary goodness," as you so aptly termed it, because we're usually in that area right after lunch or dinner, and I'm making a beeline to Central Market. I put on my blinders and refuse to see that brown and pink Frost sign right across the parking lot. Besides, Central Market's cheese counter is calling me...

Unfortunately, every time I allow myself a small treat it only weakens my resolve for the next time and increases my cravings.

"All things in moderation" just does not work for me. Several times I have hoped for some slimes or dumping....even some projectile vomiting would be nice. Never happens. I can't even get heart burn.

^^^^^^ this - hell my ex's cooking wouldn't even give me heartburn and she was plain awful at it....

BTW - Have a good trip Laura, and if you do have a s'more it is really okay! :)

Oh and would you people quit talking about donuts and ice cream and get back on topic!

:P

Hey, this is the book version of food porn. 50 Shades of Fattening!

Besides, I'm an innocent bystander just sucked into the maelstrom of salacious food talk; who hijacked her own thread, hmmmm? :P

Trish <--- trying to look pitifully innocent (and probably failing miserably, darn it!)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
