I take Bariatric Advantage-brand calcium citrate chewy bites...4 a day (250 mg each).

I second the BA chews, especially caramel. They are yummy little treats 3 x a day (6 total). At 6 month, my Calcium levels were dead on mid range. I have 9 month checkup next week and will see if I need to keep taking. I am a total addict to them now though and am not sure I could give them up. Lol.

I use Zija Moringa Supermix instead of taking Vitamins, Calcium, and B12. It's all natural and as far as calcium goes it's has 4 times (gram for gram) the amount of calcium that's in milk. It's also has many other benefits, like I stopped losing my hair just 2 wks after starting it and I'm only on 1 out of 15 medications (most were for anti-flammatory reasons, ie, asthma, fibromyalgia, planar fasiitis, and more) since starting it. It's awesome. I highly recommend it.

That's good to hear. I took a lot of Protein and supplements yet was still losing hair during month 3 and 6. For me, not a big deal since my hair is short. However, I can see how Hair loss would be troubling for a lot of women who really identify with their hair. Trust me, I understand this.

My classes' date=' nutritionally and Dr. Said absolutely no gummies !! The chews I found at costco were Calcium Citrate (Kirkland brand) 500 mg and they are very tasty![/quote']

You found calcium citrate chews at costco? I could always only find Calcium carbonates which as still good, but do not absorb as well.

I've seen you post several times about low carb, and 6 of these per day really cut into my carb allowance that I'd rather get from fruit-veggies! Do you count them in your carbs/cals for the day? I honestly stress about this daily lol. I'm ready to throw them out and switch to pills to relieve the carb stress.

The chews have 1 net carb each which would make 6 carb a day. I think that is low carb for me. I was very low carb up until month 6. Now I am moderately low because I do try and get in good carbs at month 9. If you want to drop weight fast, one way is to go as low carb as possible and force your body into ketosis for several months (ala Atkins), but eventually you will need to add back in the good carbs. It worked really well for me, but would be hard for everyone to stay sub 20 carbs for so long. I did not eat veggies until month 6. Tried to at dinner before then, but they always led to sliming for me. Now I have little problem eating things like raw brocolli and red pepper and salad. Good luck!!

Ah, OK! I didn't realize you were doing it Atkins style. I recall that diet very well. Did you deduct Fiber also?

Well, I was following my doc's g carbs= g Protein recommendation, but it's not coming off how it should, based on my deficit. I started C25K 3 weeks ago and the scale hasn't really moved since then, so I guess I'll give in and try lowering carbs more. Thanks! And regarding the original topic, the Bariatric Advantage chews are great! They also make a 500 mg version now so you only need 2-3 per day, depending on your doc's recommendations.

I am pre-op and have been using the same gummies as jjoyce282 for now. My dr's office is making me buy the Bariatric Advantage Vitamins though and it looks like its going to be a min of $150 for a 90 day supply. They say these and my current iron/ Centrum orange chewables aren't a suitable substitute. Not too happy about that- it seems that plenty of people go the route I've been going for post-op

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
