Has anyone had any complications with Dr Garcia doing the sleeve?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had any complications with Dr Garcia doing the sleeve? I get my sleeved done with him April 15, I am starting to get little nervous and and scared but excited at the same time.I just hope everything goes good and I don't have no major complications like some of the stories I have read on here.

I did read somewhere that he hasn't had any leaks if that helps any. I am using him too and I have total confidence that he is a very good surgeon! My surgery is scheduled for May 7, but considering switching to May 6, so I can have it the same day I fly in as well.

Search Dr Garcia and you will find plenty to calm your nerves. As with most of the MX docs.. You can find many recommendations just by searching in the search bar on the forum. Good luck!

I just emailed Dr. Garcia, Dr. Luna and Alma and it was a clot and heart issue but the whole family was sleeved by Garcia...This was an isolated incident!!! I worry about these things but they assured me that was the only one. still confident in my decision!

So, with a clot you just can't help it? If you get one in the wrong place you're just screwed or what? :/ I'm scared about this

Maybe or maybe not?!?! It seems to me although I AM NOT a doctor, some ppl just don't know if they are "blood clot" prone... Especially if you have never had any other surgeries/complications!! This particular person had ailments that contributed to her death.. If I had ailments I would NOT get this surgery period,in MX or The States.

Remember Amy is doing fine now..so I wouldn't say "screwed" altogether....

You should have specified Dr "FERNANDO" Garcia as there is more than one Dr Garcia.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
