Thenewmrssmith 36 Posted April 5, 2013 My insurance company requires a 3 month monitored weight loss program within the past 12 months. I saw my Dr in March and in April. My doctor said next month is my last visit. Does that make sense? Shouldn't I be seeing him until June?
asmaclare 38 Posted April 5, 2013 Depending on how your program works you could be referred to see the surgeon before that. I don't think the insurance company really cares about when you see the surgeon. The 3 month monitored diet is just so that they can say you are committed to the process. (And you're lucky some insurance companies require 6 or 9 months!) Some doctors, though, won't even refer to the surgeon until after you've completed that requirement too because they may also want to know that you're committed. xsammy 27 Posted April 5, 2013 Most insurance companies count calendar months--my 6 month diet started on Feb 13 and I will be done July 1, even though that's technically only 4 1/2 months. 1 Thenewmrssmith reacted to this
