I am 2 weeks post-op and was starting to feel better (pain-wise) but the today my largest incision started to hurt more and I have a burning sensation. The incision itself looks fine-it's closed up and no drainage of any kind. Anyone else experience this? Is it just nerves and part of the healing process?

That was the most painful part of my surgery.... I couldn't bend or sneeze! I finally started feeling better w/the pain @ 3 weeks. Feel better & REST!

Yes- the burning sensation! I felt it in the incision they actually pulled the stomach out of. Asked my surgeon he said that was normal. I'm 5 weeks out today and it's pretty much subsided. Every now and then I feel it, but it really doesn't happen anymore. I just started being able to sleep on my side. Bending is getting easier for me too.

Same with me Im 5 weeks out and I still on occasion feel burning in some pf my incisions.I had my lapband removed and converted to the sleeve so I thought my healing slow was due to this but I guess its normal.Good luck and yes this is a very slow process...

I asked my Dr today about this. I have the same burning pain inside below my largest incision. I am 9 days out. He said its where he pulled out my stomach and put in a stitch. Don't remember the exact word but yea that's probably what were feeling.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
