Well... I was sleeved on 3/27/2013. Today is my 8th post op day. I have threw up 3 times, almost blacked out at Wal-Mart, and went from 220 lbs to 202 lbs! There is good and bad with everything you do in life. I think my body is say "WTF!" I am trying to eat pureed foods, but I messed up yesterday. I ate pureed fruit. BAD, BAD, IDEA! That's why I have thrown up 3 times. I don't remember my doc saying no fruits... I have ate eggs & mashed potatoes. My favorite food that I have found is Breyers chocolate Low Carb ice cream. It has 4 carbs, 2 or so grams of Protein, and is made with splenda. I will be honest, I hate Protein Shakes. I know that I am not getting my daily protein needs - It is so hard. I am getting about 30 grams a day. My doc has on my diet plan 60-80 grams a day. Tomorrow I am going to try refried Beans with cheese. So why did I almost black out.... I took my 2 BP pills that morning. I stopped taking them today and I feel so much better. I have to go buy a personal BP machine so I can check my BP. This is an adventure, and it's already getting started!

don't get a wrist monitor, they don't work!

If you're close to your PCP, you can probably swing by and ask them to check it for you, too. My PCP does that, no appointment needed. Don't take it tomorrow and see if you can get a reading and if you're normal, check with your surgeon or PCP about stopping them completely.

I'm REALLY hoping to come of my bp meds asap!!

Also - your bp med - does it have hctz in it? If you're not getting your fluids in, you might also be getting dehydrated if you're using a diuretic.

Good luck!!

I had my surgery the 27th too, and I feel you one the shakes. I have grown to HATE them. I am not to "officially" start pureed food until tomorrow, but I ate refried Beans last night, and felt 100% better! I also struggle to get my Protein in so I can't wait to get to the eat the protein food stage. I am really scared to try any fruits at all, but would love a cracker..lol

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
