Questioning my restriction

Recommended Posts

I am 3.2 weeks post op. I have been adhering to the post op diet with the exception of one flub but my question is: I am not feeling the hurting and restriction that I did. I guess maybe cause I am not pushing myself to be full, just satisfied? I ate 3 oz turkey taco meat last night. I had plenty and was satisfied but no pain or fullness in my chest. Now I'm freaking that maybe my sleeve is not working correctly. I think I'm just one big paranoid basket case with this.

I felt the same way... I would eat until I was satisfied, but not full. The other night I ate too much & too fast.... So nauseous! It was not good. I will never do that again! Now I know my sleeve is working;)

Leading up to now, you were more swollen and healing from surgery. I could feel everything a little more the first few weeks, but as I healed I felt more and more normal. You're doing the right thing.. Measure your foods to monitor your intake. You want to get in 3-4oz, and not feel uncomfortable. Dont' push yourself to feel "full". Your new relationship with food and feeling satisfied with less will only aid you going forward.

You may feel more restriction as you move on to more dense Proteins.

Good luck, sounds like you are doing very well!

You're not supposed to push yourself to be full. It's no fun, trust me. You feel sick and uncomfortable for a long time after eating. If you're feeling satisfied you're good to go, especially if you're following your drs instructions. An example of your sleeve not working is eating more than 3oz at 3 weeks and still feeling hungry. You are doing fine! :)

Has it gotten any better? I feel the same way. I feel like I can eat way more than others before I get that full feeling. I never feel uncomfortable or get the slimes that people talk about!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
