There's no way I could eat a six inch sub with the bread! We went to Hardee's today and my friend got chicken tenders and I ate one and was completely full. I am such a cheap date! LOL

I think you might be able to eat the whole sub because it's a veggie sub. Are you a vegetarian? (I am). I am wondering if you could eat it all (plus bread) if it included meat Protein (I'm guessing not). Your calories don't sound like they are excessive. You might do better having some solid protein for Breakfast instead of the shake--it would get your metabolism going and keep you full longer. My dr doesn't like us to drink Protein Shakes once we are on solids bc the protein in them is more bioavailable so your body doesn't have to work as hard to process it--which makes you stay full for less time and contribute to losing more slowly.

I can only eat half of a 6 inch sub but that's a ham and turkey sub. I'm 6 months post op. Some people have longer stomachs and can eat more.

Are you cleared to eat raw veggies? I'm not cleared until month 3... No raw veggies, unpeeled fruit, nuts, seeds or popcorn... Also still no solid Protein that doesn't cut easily with a fork. Basically sticking to chicken and fish and occasionally ground meats

I was cleared to eat raw veggies at 6 weeks (iceberg lettuce at 4 weeks), but no seeds or nuts unil 4 months. I'm so happy to have veggies again! I have a hard time fitting them in at meals but my RD said that I can have them as Snacks.

They gave me the ok for veggies/fruit but if they have a tough skin to skip. So I am told no apple peels but just to add a new food every day and see how I tolerate it. So far nothing has bothered me but I am not even to try things like nuts, popcorn or stuff like that. Mostly because I am trying to make low carb choices. Nuts like almonds are a love if mine. i know they are low carb but I don't want to eat too many so I just stay away from them. Before surgery I did low carb for years just to maintain my weight. When I didn't the scale kept rising. So the healthy food/low carb thing us a breeze to me. I have been doing it forever. I can actually eat more kinds of food after surgery. It was kind of exciting to eat whole wheat bread again and yogurt.

I'm not a vegetarian but before surgery ate most of my foods from veggies. I am going to try skipping the shake and eat Cereal or something else. Thanks for the advice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
