Lol you guys I'm serious! I feel full like I did before' date=' that tightness. Is it not supposed to feel like tht?! Am I not supposed to know??[/quote']

Tightness in the chest is a good leading indicator that you are nearing full territory. 1-3 bites over that and you will feel the pain. It will feel like a heart attack (*raises hand*) somewhat or just really uncomfortable above your stomach.. you might even get pain in your left shoulder (*raises hand again*).Trust me, you do not want the pain. Once or twice is enough for you to eat slower or less just to avoid the pain. I have done my fair share of toilet time after eating those extra bites. No more though!! Learned my lesson about month 4 post op. I think my problem with this stemmed from the fact I was a food shoveler before.

I'm one week post of and feel the same way!

You will not really encounter a "full" sensation until you are on solids at week 4-6. We all start solids at a different post op date depending on the advice of the doctor and NUT. For example, I started at week 5.

However, once you do start solids, follow the basic eating rules better then I did!!

1. Do take 20-30 minutes to eat a meal. Best I could do was 10 minutes. This was my primary cause of sliming, burping, sneezing, farting and hiccuping. Imagine doing all of these at the same time and you will not be surprised when your wife/husband has 911 on speed dial. Lol.

2. Put your fork down in between bites; it is not going to walk away. Never could do this very well and it might have contributed to 1.

3. Do not drink with food (wait 15 min after last drink and wait 45 minutes for another drink). Did not violate this one.

4. Eat high quality Protein first. Start out 1-3 ounces and work your way up to 3-5 ounces as the months go by. I had no issue with this one.

5. Measure your food to be no more then 1/3 a cup or 3 ounces on the scale. I could do this well. Document your food quantities for as long as you need to.

Again, heed my pain comments above a couple posts. Not fun. Gets old after x times. If you follow rule the rules above, you should be able to stop before full and not go into pain zone.

Good luck!!

Thanks so much!!

I was just coming to the board to check on fullness and how it feels. I'm one week post-op, too. I do notice a feeling like Ive swallowed something the wrong way when I drink too quickly then will feel better if I burp.

It sounds ridiculous, to me, that I was wondering what "full" felt like (especially while still on liquids) but so helpful others are willing to ask and those farther out from surgery are willing to answer.

Is there something wrong with me? I feel full like normal. Like when I was full before surgery! Am I not suppose to feel that??

Isn't Martin and normal in the same sentence.. an oxymoron? ;)

(Actually that probably goes for most of us, but more noticeable and fun to point out Martin) :P

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
