So I am being sleeved April 8th. I have been placed on a one week liquid diet, with Sunday being Clear Liquids only( Five shakes a day). The problem is, along with all the anxiety and thoughts of doom I have, these Bariatric Fusion Protein Shakes are already making me nauseous and sick. I can only imagine after surgery. The thing is, I don't want food either. I just, have the stomach blues. If anyone had to do just liquids for a week or two, let me know what did you drink? I had the choice between Bariactric Advantage and Bariatric fusion. At first it was ok, but Day 3? I want to throw up.

Try a variety of different shakes NOW until you find one you like. You're going to need a favorite one post-op. It's best to find it now . And yes.. If you don't find one you like there will come a time where you gag just thinking about it let alone drink it

If your surgeon allows it, try doctoring them up with Torani sugar free flavored syrups, plain koolaid powder, sugar free Jello powder, cocoa powder, Peanut Butter powder, and Decaf instant coffee crystals. I thought I was going to be sick the first day and thought I couldn't go through with it until I discovered some delicious flavors. One of my favorites was to put lime jello powder and coconut flavoring in the vanilla. My surgeon also let us put frozen fruit in 2 of them a day and the frozen pineapple in that one was great. I put the decaf instant coffee in the chocolate one and it was my absolute favorite for mornings. Just experiment and find some things you can live with. All that being said, I had to do shakes for 2 weeks before surgery and since I have had the surgery, I can't tolerate even smelling the Bariatric Advantage shakes, which is what I used. You will get through it because it is only 1 week and you can do ANYTHING for one week just to get through to the other side! So worth it!! Hang in there!! :D

The costco Premier shakes are great. I do the same as shrinkingmom, I add SF Jello, a little bit of PB or coffee. They come out great w ice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
