Hello everyone. I have never posted on a internet site before but have lurked here for several weeks and have gained some great information. I was banded Nov. 22, the day before Thanksgiving. Was sore after the surgery as usual, but otherwise doing great and have lost 17 lbs. so far. The past couple of days I have felt a sensation similar to a side-stitch under one of my smaller incisions. I assume this is my port? Is this feeling normal and has anyone experienced this sensation also? Will it go away as I continue to heal? I thought my dr. said you would not feel the port.

Thanks for any information.:help:

I thought I was feeling my port too about 1 to 2 weeks out but he assured me it was scar tissue where I was healing and sure enough when I got my first fill it showed on fluro. Your port is very deep. I to this day can feel a hard lump which I swear somedays is my port but I have the lowprofile port and it's deeper it just feels like my port.

Hope your doing well. Your weightloss is great. Just focus on healing as you don't have any fill yet. As soon as your restriction fills up the weightloss will follow.

Congrats.

Thanks for the reply, mysherrijo. That makes me feel better as I was wondering if the port had flipped or something. I have my two-week follow-up on Thursday and can't wait to hear from my doc that everything looks okay.

You know, I can't help but still feel like "is this really going to work?" I have failed so many times before that I have kinda become cynical about any hope for true and lasting weightloss. Glad I found this board and hope to make some new pals. 8-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
