Anyone reading anything good?

Recommended Posts

I am just wondering if anyone is reading anything interesting, I just finished Running with Scissors which was very interesting, I felt like I needed a shower everytime I finished a chapter, he discribes his filthy living arrangements so well you feel dirty once you finish the chapter.

Currently reading my second Judy Bloom book, she usually writes childrens novels but actually has written a few adult novels, Summer Sisters is really good and now Wifey I am half way through and it is also good.

Please pass on any books you feel others might enjoy:clap2:

Cheers,

Sherri:p

I recently read Dry, buy the same author who wrote "Running with Scissors". It's not a light, fun read, but it was very interesting.

I haven't read anything new for a while I really liked, I do like mystery series like the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich.

I also really liked Summer Sisters.

I am now into reading all of the books by Perri O'Shaughnessy (pen name for two sisters who are the authors)....there are 11 in this series and I am on the 3rd right now; I really enjoy the characters.

I also LOVE the 3 books by Ann Brashares: "Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants", "The Second Summer of the Sisterhood", and "Girls in Pants - the Third Summer of the Sisterhood".

I love to read and have a voracious appetite!

I really like the Perri O'Shaughnessy books too. I was really into those 2 summers ago. I need to catch up on the newest ones. Highly recommended.

I just finished Without A Net, by: Michelle Kennedy. It is a good read. It is about a middle class mother and her children becoming homeless. It is based on a true story, a memoir.

I am now reading A Memory Keeper's Daughter. I can't remember the author right now, but it is a slow read, but good. It is about a doctor's wife who has twins and the baby girl has Down's syndrome. The doctor tells the nurse to take the baby girl to a state hospital for children. The nurse does, but decides to raise the baby herself.

.....no snide remarks from this end Cloe.....I read those books too.....love 'em. We have a good used book store here that has a lot of the true crime books.....a few have really stuck with me. I like to alternate....a nice "soft" feel good book with a menacing twisted one!! (I also figure it is valuable research in case I ever need to get any ideas!!!) MWWWWWAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa *evil laughter*:embarassed:

Yep, I like reading them, too. And novels, detective fiction, biographies, travel/adventure, and natural science made easy for blondies like myself. I am also interested in the social sciences, social anthropology.... I read a lot, every night before going to sleep.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
