I was sleeved on 24 Sep 2013 by Steph Ulmer and have lost about 15 kilos since I started the pre op diet. I'm pretty happy with this and have not really been doing much exercise so I guess it's ok? Started at 98 kilos and now down to 83 at nearly 3 months post op. How does this sound to everyone else? Would love to hear how everyone's rate of loss is going. Sometimes I feel like I haven't lost enough in that time but then I remember that there is now way I could have done this on my own and have never lost this amount of weight and kept it off............so that keeps me going

I was also sleeved by Stephanie Ulmer (isn't she amazing!) in May 2012. I have lost just shy of 60 kilos and am now less than3 kilos from goal. Life is good :-)

Yes she was lovely, I've had no issues whatsoever so I think I have been really lucky. What kind of weight did you start out at?

Plus the nurses at Lap Auckland where I had my surgery were also amazing. Got treated so well and would recommend them to everyone

I started at 135.5 kgs and I am 174cm. I also have had no issues and her follow up care is fantastic. I have also realise a female bariatric surgeon is a rarity, for me it was a bonus.

How's everyone getting on in the lead up to Christmas? Any tips from those who've been through the festive season already on what was helpful? Haha it's so hard with all the chocolates around at the moment! I'm just six months post op and feeling like my old self again, almost 30 kgs down. The measurements are what really amaze me though.

I'm over a year out and down 50kgs and at goal (normal BMI) - I'm going to eat whatever I want (within reason) over the festive season but make sure I do some form of exercise every day to make up for it. I'm thinking of doing the 5:2 diet round mid jan to help with maintenance and any regain over the silly season!

Hi, welcome to the losers bench :-). 10kg in 3 weeks is very good. Everyone loses at different levels depending on starting weight, how much you have to lose to and your body. Go with the flow it say and and as long as you're getting your Protein in, fluids and Vitamins embrace it. It does slow down I time andyou may even plateau, which is normal. Hope this helps a tad bit :-)

So I'm now 11 months out and have lost a total of 30kgs..........OMG amazing, would never have been able to do that without the sleeve. I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with Hair loss. Mine has thinned out so much and I'm trying to figure out if I should start taking Biotin in conjunction with the normal Vitamins. Any advice would be appreciated :-)

Hi everyone I am new too the room.

This is a new start for me I have finish all of the work-up that needs to be done before getting my date. I have had a few set backs which made me fell like I don't want to this anymore. But I kept the mind strong and did not let it defer me from what I want. This past Friday I met with the new doctor that is going to do my sleeve, the doctor I had before didn't do the sleeve he does the bypass so you know I was very upset but none the less I feel good with the new doctor who has been doing this for over some years. All I am waiting for is my date I will keep you guys posted

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
