I was sleeved march 13th and I am down 19 lbs so far which I am very happy about. I have noticed the dizzy spells when I stand up too fast. When will that go away? Also walking up the stairs my heart races and feels like its pounding out of my chest and feel like a ran a marathon. Please tell me this is all normal....

I was sleeved on the 13th also. I notice I have those problems as well (especially if I am not able to get in enough Protein or Fluid for one reason or another). I don't know if that's the case for you, but maybe it will help. If you notice these things when you're at rest, I would have it checked out because they can also be a sign of a leak. Not to frighten you, but I think it's good to be aware of. When in doubt, always a good idea to get it checked out. :) Hope you start feeling better soon!!

Very often an increased heart rate is secondary to dehydration. I had this problem for the first month after surgery. Finally, I was able to get enough Water down. Good luck, and it never hurts to let your MD know what's going on, too.

Jenn I only expierence the heart racing when walking stairs so not when I am laying down. The dizziness is when getting up too fast. Does that sound like a leak???

Well... I'm definitely not your doctor, but that's exactly what I had going on and they didn't think it sounded like a leak when I told them. That's why they specified those problems at rest. I agree with kshepa that it could be very well dehydration (I know that is a contributing factor for me). Mine has gotten better as I've been able to increase my Protein and Fluid intake. Still have my moments, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

I felt dizziness at that stage as well. I was also light headed at times. I was not getting all my liquids in tho, so I knew it had to be that. It did go away when I started eating dense meals, such as Protein type foods. Heart racing could be part of not getting enough liquids in, I did not encounter that issue.. Try sipping your liquid throughout the day, maybe that will help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
