Is there a site where one can obtain recipes for the Protein Drinks we are to have post op? Are these the same as the ones body builders drink? I enjoy mixing things my self. shellyj 5 Posted July 20, 2004 http://store.bariatriceating.com/ you can order protien drinks and low carb foods off this site. i bought a powder at GNC called whey Protein. it was whey NASTY!! i have heard you can use chocolate powder and throw in a scoop of Peanut Butter when you mix it for flavor! michelle
New Hope 37 Posted July 20, 2004 I also bought the GNC Protein Powder. It's supposed to be flavorless and cost $24. It's nasty by itself. But I add skim milk, sliced banana, frozen strawberries, (or whatever frozen fruits on hand), and ice in a blender. It's like a smoothie -- very, very good. I even have my husband hooked on them for a Breakfast drink.
baileymb 0 Posted July 20, 2004 My thoughts....... I was told by my nutrionist that I did not need to purchase these and that I could get Protein for other sources. I did do stuff like broth and gatorade to keep me hydrated in the beginning. Now I have at least 2 cups of pudding a day along with other Protein to get my daily amount. Since nothing is cut away the absorbtion is the same! So I was told to save my money!! Hope this helps! P.S. (Whey Nasty is whey to funny!! LoL) Baileym ___________ June 14th
leatha_g 4 Posted July 20, 2004 This is true. Once you have passed your liquid/mushy stages, Protein should come from hard Proteins - meats, fish, eggs, cottage cheese. Until you pass your initial liquid stage, a Protein shake is a good way of keeping that Protein up. I bought myself some nectar - caribbean cooler. I'm on the fence about whether I like it or not, but I'm not real good about pulling out the blender and creating frozen concoctions. I'm sure that would make it better. Atkins shakes work as well for the short amount of time I have to endure it.
