I Need a Kick in the Butt

Recommended Posts

Don't know how, why or when it happened, but I've derailed. I was doing so well with my eating routine, losing slowly, but surely.

Sometime around Thanksgiving, things went a little wonky. I need a little mental kick-start back into good habits.

Any ideas? What do you do to refresh your enthusiasm and get yourself back (or stay) on track with your goal?

Here's another swift kick.........

Holidays and family gatherings are always "food oriented" at my house. I have to remind myself that "no food is as good as ..thin feels." Sometimes that works.

Its a huge mind game...but you will succeed.

I'm pulling for ya! ! ! You can do this! :clap2:

Almonds! Put a bowl of Almonds out and eat a few when you want something. They take care of the sweet desire and the crunch desire.

Read Carlene's post from Wednesday. I don't remember if she said she was 2 yrs post op and it was great.

Your in wonderland! WTG!!

These are some good suggestions, and ones that have worked for me to get back on track in the past. Another one that worked for me was committing to drink at least 4 cups of green tea per day. Green tea stimulates the metabolism, plus it's a nice little break during the day. I splurge and buy really good tea from the Joe Muggs coffee shop at books a Million. Other coffee/tea shops have nice teas as well.

Even better, put out a bowl of nuts in the shell with crackers. You still get the snack, but it slows you down a bit. Raw nuts are great, full of healthy oils, as long as you eat them raw, not roasted. But, it's easy to over do it since they are so concentrated in calories.

Reflect back.....why did you get banded in the first place? Think of the consequences if you don't get back on track.

I always wish that I could bottle what I feel like before I lose weight and let myself get a taste it again when I lose my willpower. I tried to journal all of my negative thoughts before the surgery so I could read over them in the future if necessary. But I know it's hard. What do you tell yourself when you overindulge? Do you say, "I deserve it." ??

That's what I did....and that's how I gained 140 pounds that I lost on Jenny Craig.

Good luck to you. The holidays will be hard for all of us, likely. Maybe the new year will get you rejuvenated. Maybe you could find a friend to start a new exercise routine in January?

Thanks for the suggestions. A good three day "Do-Over" seems to be in order. I think things started getting hectic and my routine of cooking for myself on the weekends and freezing food went by the wayside. It's too tempting to be hungry with no proper food to grab.

I've also missed my bimonthly support group twice and that makes a big difference in my mental outlook. Next one's on Monday and I'll be there, come hell or high Water.< /p>

Green tea and raw almonds, hmmmm. I'll have to see what's available in my health food store.

Thanks so much! Any more suggestions?

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
