Wow that sounded terrible! You lived in excruciating pain for over a week?! Should they not of realised sooner it could be a clot as you'd just had surgery? And I didn't realise they cause so much pain - I don't really know anything about them. I thought if you had one, within a few days untreated you'd die. I'm off to google blood clots!

Thank you ????

It would come and go from painful to I'm pretty sire I'm dieing over that week and a half.

Not all are painful. My blood clots were rare, apparently.

There was a fancy name for them but I threw away my discharge papers. I am pretty sore "mesenteric" (sp?) portal vein thrombosis was one. I mean I know it was but I'm not sore how you spell that.

Yeah. The drs here are less than smart it seems. One dr. Literally told me "it's heartburn, you just need to let your pouch heal". He refused to say sleeve. Even overheard him outside the door say she had (whisper) gastric bypass"

No idiot. I didn't.

It's crazy that a Dr. Can't even distinguish the differences in bariatric surgery! Ugh.

Going April 12. Dr Lopez. Any tips for hospital?? Is area safe? Parents are joining me. They are 65. Wanted to come for support. Hubby is taking time off when I return. Can they go out around the hospital?

They can walk to the grocery store which is two blocks away, it s called Ley. Good for alook around and some Snacks, it is like a Walmart. It is safe near the hospital but not much to do. The main floor cafe is small but very nice owners who speak english. Good food. Best o ask abraham or eduardo for a ride somewhere. I went to the Tijuana cultural centre, it is really beautiful.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
