Woofay 0 Posted May 19, 2007  Hi Mal! So glad it's going well for you! I believe I was told about 3 days of Clear Liquids, then try a little shake, something not clear, and see how you do. Dr K explained it to me that it's all a matter of tolerance. I don't think that you really have to worry about the Protein the first few days. Your body has a protein storage and a few days won't make your hair fall out. But when you're off the clears, try getting it in. Yes, the clear phase truly sucks. Or at least it did for me. Dynamo~ yes, I'm on for June 6th, and an address would be appreciated. I can get anywhere with mapquest! It is lovely outside and I've mowed, weed&feeded and sprayed roundup on the weeds in the rock. I've been out all day! Angie~how are you feeling after your fill? Can you tell the difference? You have a lot of Fluid in your band, you should be feeling it! Dynamo~how does your fill feel? The weekend has been great! And my scale is boogying downward! Yeah!
Woofay 0 Posted May 19, 2007 Hey Guys! I just saw my ticker with the last post and....I'm not morbidly Obese anymore! What does that make me? Regular obese!!???? Hahahahahahaha!
DynamoMini 1 Posted May 19, 2007 Well, I think they wanted you on clear liquids from 1 - 3 days. So, if you are feeling good, I think it wouldn't hurt. Dr. K was very supportive about doing what feels right and that each person is an individual. Mal, I also think you were really tested with all the ups and downs pre-surgery, I'm so glad the recovery has been so wonderful. Some docs really go with the clear for a week, mushies for two, and then food, some are even more strict, but Dr. K says there is a wide range of recovery rates. I wish I had jumped back as quickly, but anesthesia really gets me. They have trouble waking me up enough to go home. Then I always, no matter what is used, have an allergic reaction and puke. Look at you, you waltzed right outta there! Don't get on the scale right away, I gained 10 pounds at first from the IV stuff. It is demoralizing. Many others report the same gain. May the weight loss that will follow, come as easily. Whatever you decide to do, go slowly. Do a little and wait to see if you are tolerating it. Remember, Dr. K's biggest rule, no throwing up, Michelle
DynamoMini 1 Posted May 19, 2007 Woofay - I just posted and it was at the same time as your posts, so I didn't get to read and respond. I'm not sure about my fill. Today I don't feel any restriction, but I am equating restriction with the golfball feeling, and I don't know if that is the issue. Too bad there isn't a way to be certain about the right fill. I am eating ok today. Just having a relaxing day, not doing anything other than watering the flowers, laudry, dishes, reading. I haven't even been out of the house today. Tonight a friend is coming over and we are watching Volver on DVD and cooking out dinner. It's a laid back day, no exercise. I fill tighter when i exercise, which I think is interesting. Hugs, Michelle
Woofay 0 Posted May 19, 2007 Tighter when you exercise...now that's interesting. Do other people have that too? Maybe I should exercise more!
Mal 0 Posted May 20, 2007 Anita, you are so smart, I didn't even think that my body should have enough Protein to hold a couple days!! I was out shopping today and picked up some Isopure and dry protein mix. Michelle, thanks for the advice. I am going to stay away from the scale. I dislike the liquid diet, but I will stick with it as long as I can, it sure does seem like it has been a week already, it has only been one day!!
Lap_dancer 8 Posted May 20, 2007 Michelle I always feel like we share close to the same birthday. One day apart. You are doing so fabulous. Congrats.
Shesha 1 Posted May 20, 2007 Congrats Mal! Don't feel bad about feeling good! I felt good too. I think the most annoying thing was being able to feel the tape on the incisions rubbing against my clothes. Other than that, just a little soreness (like I had done a bunch of sit ups the day before) when I got out of bed. Stick to liquids for that 5 days or so after surgery. I didn't get much Protein in during the liquid stage, and none of my hair fell out or anything.(yet, anyway) Just make sure you get that 60-80 grams/day in when you go to mushies and solids! Lap_dancer 8 Posted May 20, 2007 Mal!! You did it!! So sorry I missed your post on the other page. Congratulations! Welcome to The Band. What an awesome feeling. Try lots of different Soups now and drink the broth. I didn't have luck with cream soups so I don't recommend them. Now is the time you can be lazy! Way to go!!! LapDancer~Can I have creamy Soups now? I thought only clear liquids, I would love to have some creamy Soup right now..yummmmm! and an Atkins shake, that would be sooo nice right about now. Angie38 1 Posted May 20, 2007 Hi all..... I lost my last post and it was a desperate plea for help! I got a what i think compared to most others was a BIG fill (2.7cc's) anyway I am still hungry! I can still eat. What is wrong, a leak? A slippage? Is anyone who has been filled feeling like this? Today is day two so i will wait and see what happens tomorrow but if Monday comes and I am still feeling the same then I will call Dr K and see what he can do before his African get away................ I am feeling blue!
Angie38 1 Posted May 20, 2007 Yippee Mal! You did it......... i am glad you are having little pain! Welcome to Bandland!
Angie38 1 Posted May 20, 2007 In my post that I lost I was telling you about my DD who is going to be 16 in July. Yesterday it was raining so I told her that we were going to go pick her sister up from the bus stop and she could drive. Well she was backing out and turned the wheel the wrong way and when I was telling her to hit the brake she panicked and hit the gas and ran us into my brick retaining wall…………… the story gets better! So my car is not teetering off of a slab of the brick. So my DH gets home and tries to pull my car out without any luck it is stuck and it is really damaged. I call the insurance company they are sending a tow truck out on Monday but the tow truck driver calls and asks me about my car being stuck on a wall. I try and explain and he tells me he is not sure he can get it out! Good grief! If he can’t get it then what, does it become part of the lawn decorations? My poor DD I was yelling at her and it was really not her fault. I just saw my car and could not believe it. Oh well. I get a rental on Monday and if this guy gets my car out he will be towing it to the shop! KIDS!! I swear.
Lap_dancer 8 Posted May 20, 2007 Angie..yipes!! Glad everyone is Okay. Cars can be replaced, people can't. About that fill. I just read on another post that the fill takes even up to a couple of weeks to kick in for some folks. Give it a few and then if you still don't feel full, call Dr. K's office. Mal, no creamy Soups. Made me sick. Here is what I ate: Fruitcicles frozen popcicles, Propel Fitness Water in Kiwi-Strawberry (love it), carry-out french onion Soup minus the cheese and bread, chinese vegetable minus the vegetables, won-ton minus the won ton, Cozy Shack brand chocolate pudding after the third day (it's fat free). Think fat free. here is my email addy: handjive1228@yahoo.com
DynamoMini 1 Posted May 20, 2007 Angie38 - I can sooooooo relate to your experience. Cars and kids. My son Max has been through 5 cars and is on number 6 and he is only 19. Some he sold and bought something else, two were totalled so our insurance won't cover him any more. On Thursday he tells me about a speeding ticket for going 30 mph over on I225 by the Cherry Creek Dam (lots of police there) and wanted money to hire an internet lawyer. After my shock I started laughing. He had had the ticket since February and hadn't wanted to tell me because I might be upset. You think??????? Anyway, the story has a happy ending for him. He has to take another safe driving class and they will drop the 6 point ticket completely. I was sure they were going to pull his license. The DA said that if we had brought a lawyer into it, she wouldn't have given him the deal. I loved the lawn ornament concept! What a scream - but (moaning) sorry for the hassle. I keep saying that I want to see my guys alive at 25. Lap Dancer - you and I are almost bandit twins. Have you had a fill? Mine was pretty minimal and the band is definitely tighter when I exercise my stomach muscles with those tummy ups. Otherwise, I don't really notice a difference. Tomorrow is my day of reconning as i officially weigh in. I have eaten out 5 nights in a row, and even though I have been eating a lot less than I used to, I worry. Today, I am going to go buy new sneaks for the gym and then go work out. Have great afternoons, Michelle
