Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Denise~ Sorry your friend was being so poopey. I think it is natural though to feel that way sometimes. She probably doesn't realize she is doing it and is trying to figure out how to adjust perceptions of you and your place in your guy's friendship.

I find myself even acting like a poopey head. At least I was aware of it though. For instance my older sister just lost a bunch of weight and is looking good. I found myself getting upset because she was raining on my parade. How pathetic is that! So I made a point of telling her how good she looked! I couldn't believe how jealous I was of her getting all the compliments though. Made me sad that I could be that way. :crying:

Night night sweet dee. I'm going to bed as well. Nice to meet you, niknaknut! We're not usually this silly . . . .well, I guess we are.

Night all!

Don't believe them, Nicnak, they are ALWAYS 2 crazed wild women! I always laugh so hard my morning coffee shoots out my nose, everytime there's a back-and-forth conversation between the two. Add Muchkin in with them and it's a free for all. I have laughed so hard I've farted. BTW, I'm glad you're back to stay, Nicnak. This place makes both the good and the bad days, better.

WTG LA/Ador!! Take your old stuff to a consignment and pick up some new threads for yourself while you're there! Congrats to your hubby, too!

Denise, I'm sorry your friend said that to you. Maybe one day she'll get past the jealousy and realize you're still the same friend --just thin, not fat -- and the friend part is what should matter most to her. Maybe your success will inspire her to do something to improve herself. Maybe not -- that's her deal. Either way, KNOW that you're doing an awesome job and we're thrilled with your success. You've worked hard to get where you are and have inspired alot of folks (like me!) to keep working at it. You deserve some new shorts -- go get 'em!

Lap, I'm glad your man's doing ok. The way you write about it cracks me up!

Well, friends, I'm off to spend the day with extended family at my Dad's 91st birthday celebration. You know how these events make me nervous. But I made it through father's day without a hitch and I'll make it through this, too.

Happy Sunday, banditos!

Nic~It's GREAT to see you here again!

Lap~I am so annoyed, my laptop won't play the slide show, so now I have to go all the way downstairs in my office to view it, I can't wait to see your transformation! Sunnysea, I remember her! Sunny, where are you???

Happy to hear your hubby is doing well. Morphine is such a miracle drug. I wish I could buy some over the counter, especially after my kidney stone incident...OWEEEE!

Bahot~Sorry to hear that your friend hurt your feelings. People seem to be so desensitized. Words and actions. I told a friend how Cookies have become my biggest weakness, and guess what...he always brings Cookies around for me! I don't understand....maybe trying to make me feel good by bringing tham around or total sabatoge, like I don't have enough challenges, right?

My Buster ran from me this morning while we were on our walk/run! I had to chase him! It gave me a good workout, but I was sooo terrified, he ran into the street and stopped, then took off again. Naughty boy! All I could think of was "he's gone". He saw another dog with a family and stopped to say hi and they grabbed him for me. It is just easier to run with him when he is not on the leash, guess I won't be doing that anymore!

So, the scale says I'm down 4 lbs this week. Since I gained 1lb last week (Damn Tom/TOM!!!), I have lost that and a bit more. Dee thanks again for tracking this for all of us. I really do feel more motivated knowing that I get to be accountable to you guys each week. I'm really excited for the BBQ. There's a few of you I have met face to face and a bunch of you that I can't wait to meet. This is such an amazingly supportive place to come. Albeit, it takes me hours to get caught up if I haven't logged-in in a few days.

Bahot, congrats on all those clothes that are too big for ya! YOu are such an inspiration to me.

Brandy, glad to hear that you are starting to feel more like yourself. I hope all of that icky, scary stuff is in the past forever!

Lap, I love the feedback you gave to your sister about airlines/obese people. I don't know how it could have been said any better with any fewer words:-)

Mini, I'm very excited for you to have your surgery. I think it's on Wed, right? When are you leaving town? I travel for work and will get back on Thursday if you are still in town THursday night, I would like to meet you and support you in any way I can.

Mal, Green, Munch, Mini, Adork, Shelbi, Jilly, Sidan, and everyone else, I just want you guys to know how much I appreciate your posts and all that you contribute to this site. You guys make me laugh, cry and generally feel like I'm not alone in this journey. Thank you.

Hey Dorkie Girl!

I know what you mean about the clothes! My problem is my stupid stomach and arms! I need a much bigger size because of my arms AND then I want longer tops because of my stomach! I totally cannot stand a blouse that is short and my stomach sticks out the bottom! Can't do that! Ugly!!!

I wish we lived closer, I think some of my 24's and 26's would fit you. I bought some beautiful things when I first got banded and now that they fit, I can't wear them because they are too short. I'm 5-10. How tall are you? Maybe I could send you some of them! I hate for new clothes with the tags on them to go to a thrift store.

At work, I am now in a 3xl scrub pant WITH suspenders! Ugly, I know, but I refuse to purchase a lower size! I'm not going to buy any more of my own. I'm going to wait til I can wear the 1xl that the hospital supplies! Which should be early next year, I bet!

Glad you're feeling better. Let us know what your US shows. k?

Congrats on your hubby's new job! You can be proud of your man!

Hello ladybugs! How is everyone this morning.

LA- congrats on both the NSV and hubby's new job! Sounds like a good week for you!

Shelbi- enjoy your daddy's b-day today. Hope all goes well with extended family . . .

Denise - tell your friend that, while you're no longer her fat friend, she'll always be your bitchy friend!! Just kidding . . . but you can say it in your head. How exciting to be buying smaller shorts!

MAAAAALLLLLL - OMG you must have been terrified when Buster ran off. That little toad. I hope you gave him a stern stern talking to!

Life- 4lbs!!! Wohoo!!! Fab week! Yes, surgery is Wednesday and I'll be in town till Friday morning. I would love to get together . . . PARTY AT MY PLACE!!!

Lap -- Awesome pictures you look FABULOUS!!!! Keep up the great work.

Ador -- WTG on you NSV that is awesome, to bad you aren't closer and couldn't get in on the clothing swap. Are you still feeling okay?

Dee & Mini -- You ladies are too much, you had me in tears from laughing so hard at you. If my DH was home I would go upstairs and spank him just for you. I guess I'll do it when he gets home tomorrow.

Dee -- I am down 4 pounds for the last 2 weeks. Sorry I didn't weight in last week but we were outta town and I have been busy all week.

Went to a friends house for dinner tonight, it was fun. Didn't get stuck so that is always good. It's funny though how she kept trying to get me to eat more and drink more. She even made the comment "You used to be my fat friend" it really hurt that she couldn't be happy for me, I know she is just jealous because I am losing weight and finally feeling better about myself. It probalby doesn't help that her son and husband kept telling me I looked good.

I had to buy a few new pairs of shorts because everything I have is about 2 sizes to big and falling off me. It seems like nothing in my closet is fitting right now, its all so big on me.

Well, I hope everyone had a great weekend I am off to bed.:)

Bahot,

Sorry about your friend! I'm not sure why people do what they do. Sometimes, it's jealousy and sometimes, it's just because they are mean.

Don't you love when you try an outfit on and it's huge? I do!

Where are you staying while you're in town?

I'm at the holiday inn across from the hospital. I would love to have dinner Tuesday night with whomever and/or visitors Thursday night! Or???? I'm game for whatever . . . but I don't want anyone to feel obligated or anything. I know I have a tough time leaving the house on a weeknight. But then, I'm sort of a slug.

So tell me Ms Mini what would you be interested in eating on Tuesday night? The night before you re-birth... the night before the best journey of your life begins?

Tell me -- we can make a plan.

I'll be at the hospital in Parker and would love to meet you maybe around 6pm or earlier for dinner. What will you be craving?

Purrfect! Does Dr. K. let you eat whatever you want the night before surgery? Or are you still supposed to be following the pre-op diet? The thing I'm really craving is fruit. Or maybe Pasta. But if I'm still following pre-op, anyplace with meat is great. I can find something most anywhere.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
