Hi, all, sounds as if everyone has had a pretty good week.

for those of you yearning for a sports car, I have one for sale!! Primo 1978 Fiat Spider with 104K original miles! Nothin' like a convertible to make summer come alive!

Beautiful Xterra and lovely young woman! My first car was a four-door 1962 Pontiac Star Chief!! Woooo! It did have power though:cool2:. But then gas was only 19 cents a gallon....oh, those were the days!:tongue2:

Hope y'all have a good weigh in tomorrow.

Brandy!

My first car was hideous! I actually never got to drive it once. My father bought me this 1977 Impala. I turned 16 years old - 2 months after I graduated from High School. My dad said he'd fix the car up for me. It had no steering wheel and was missing some other important parts. First he said he'd have it done by my graduation, then by my 16th birthday, well, I headed to college 2 weeks later and I never got to drive it. While in college, I would house sit for different professors, they asked if I had a license, I did, so they would leave me their cars. One time, I had a Benz SLK, A Lincoln Towne Car and A Jag at my service all in the same week! Little did these people know, my driving experience consisted of driving my Mom's Dodge Cornet Stationwagon to church once a week, at the incredibly quick speed of 30 mph! "Slow down you're going too fast! Do you want me to drive?" Words, I heard every time I was behind the wheel!

Then I went to Haiti my sophomore year and drove all over that island! They have a motto when it comes to driving in Port-au-Prince, "First one there wins." All my roommates were too scared to drive, I had no fear! I think I was too stupid to fear!

My first car was a green VW beetle from the 50's. The floorboards were rusted through and you could see the road below. The back seat was "sprung" and if you sat on it it would catch on fire from pressing on the battery (yes, the battery was under the back seat). You could shift without putting in the clutch as long as you listened for the "sweet spot" of the rpms. I was driving on the highway once and somehow got it up over 45. Both running boards blew off and flew down the road.

No wonder I'm afraid to drive!

Can't wait to see how you all do on your weigh in tomorrow. I can't WAIT to have my surgery. I am so ready for this.

what a fun subject! My first car was a soft top black jacked up jeep and I had "Flyin Hawaiian" printed on it! aww memory lane. I had to get rid of it because I was pregnant, not a practical vehicle for a family. I want my next car to be a jeep!

But the first car I drove in HS (I had to share it with my brothers) was a red VW camper, we called it "the magic bus."

fun times!

The scale has been up and down daily, I am nervous for tomorrow...

it was more like fun-ny that I skated. i haven't laughed that hard at myself for a very long time...oh wait, I did say "oh look at the Unicorns" at the zoo! It was a fraction of a second, but the remark was out and everyone around me heard. I was doing a Colitis/Crohns walk at the zoo with a group of physicians. Talk about embarassing! I managed to laugh hard at myself then too!

About 20 years ago, I had a 72 VW Beetle..a beautiful green with custom roll and tuck interior. One day I looked out to the driveway and couldn't figure out why my car's windows were all blacked out. I ran out, opened the door, black smoke billowed out! I pulled the bottom of the back seat out and threw it on the lawn as it was smoldering (thank god no flames). What had happened was I had set two gallons of paint on the back seat earlier in the day. Whoever had the car before me put in a battery that was "too tall" for a VW (as mini said they are under rear seat). Anyway, as the cans bounced onto the seat, the springs touched the battery terminals causing sparks to fly and stuffing to begin smoldering. Three hours later I had a car full of smoke, a rear seat with a foot-wide hole burned into it, and a ruined interior!! Needless to say, insurance claims guy was a bit skeptical of my story, but the evidence proved me truthful. Story of the too-tall battery still amuses the men in my family.:tongue2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
