Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Good news...I hope! Talked/emailed a doc/friend here in Nome and he said he'd be willing to do fills for me. But, get this, I could EITHER go into the hospital/clinic and pay their office visit fee (could be anywhere from $85-$300...you never know with them) OR I could have him come to MY HOUSE and pay $150!!! Ok sisters, it's time to move to Nome...we can have "fill parties". Haha!

We've got to do a little more discussion on the matter (he wants a referral from my surgeon...like that'll be hard). But it looks like a done deal. I'm soooo happy!

Mini, technically I lost 2 this week. I guess I should be happy, but I am really frustrated. Probably because of all the other stresses in my life right now. But I really LOVE to see the numbers go down every day.

Seeing the numbers go down every day would be awesome, but that could potentially mean like 7lbs a week! And that's just unhealthy. I can't stand getting on the scale every morning. One day I'm -2.2 and the next I'm +1.8, then +.4, then -1.2 - I swear it's enough to drive a woman to drink. :smile2: When I get the band I'm going to weigh once a week! Yea, like I'll actually stick to that, haha.

Oh my, seriously??? That's sounds so awesome! I've heard of women who work in nail salons seeing people in their homes to make extra cash, but Doctors doing house calls??? That's too cool!! I hope it works out for you!!!

WOW! that is fantastic, I'd be up to having fill parties.

I agree, let's all fly to Nome!!!

Hey everybody. We're in Cedar City for the night before heading up the mountain to take the tree house down tomorrow morning. Congrats on everybody's losses this week. I won't be able to weigh until I get home on Sunday, then Monday I'm off to New York for the UN thing.

dee, I have lots of Zion pics to post when I get home. I did BY FAR the longest, steepest hike I've ever done there and it was so fun and I was really proud of myself! Although I'm pretty darned sore today.

So I've had one of those delayed restriction things again. I had my fill more than 2 weeks ago, and haven't really had much restriction. Then all of a sudden yesterday I started getting stuck when I'd eat and tonight actually PB'd for the first time ever. It's so weird. How can it be delayed like that? It makes no sense.

Marcy, that's so dang cool that you can have the doctor come to your house and do your fills. That is absolutely awesome. Interesting that your SIL decided to go with bypass instead of the band. As much as I wish I were losing weight at a quicker pace, I do think the band is the healthier way to go in the long run. It just makes sense.

Deb, your trip to the coast sounds wonderful. Sorry Tucker couldn't play fetch, but plodding through the sand had to be fun. When we used to take our very old lab out to the coast, she would suddenly seem young again. She just loved it. Crud, that makes me miss her a lot. And the Oregon coast.

Where's Munchie??? Does anyone know?

OK ladies, I'm having a really bad night.

My husband and I went around 9p to a local tavern that we frequent. We know them, they know us, they know what we drink, etc. It's a really friendly place, we can watch some football, play trivia, get some dinner and enjoy ourselves. Well, usually around 10p on the weekends, the not-so-familiar crowd comes in - the kind of crowd that's just looking for drink specials and a place to get drunk on a Friday night.

Well, at 10:30p two guys walked in that I knew from about 5 yrs ago - back when I was a hottie. I was 21, they were 17. We all cashiered for the same local grocery store. Back then I was a size 12 and a super hottie, and they both had crushes on me. I remember chatting online with them back then, being the "older hot college girl" and it was so great to have them be flirty with me.

I'm at least 60lbs heavier now. Probably closer to 70lbs heavier. Sure, I'm married now and I could care less what these kids think of me. But they walked in tonight, and I turned my head and silently begged that they didn't see me. I seriously hadn't seen them since I quit the grocery store.

They went to the other side of the bar, soI got lucky that time. But I got up to go to the bathroom and there they were, by the pool tables. They saw me and came over, said "Hey" and made quick small talk, since we hadn't seen each other since I left the grocery store almost 5 yrs ago. Then suddenly out of nowhere, one of the kids says, "Man, what happened to you? You used to be hot!" And they both proceeded to laugh out loud, and I was so mortified that I forgot about the bathroom and went straight back to my husband and told him we had to leave. I'm embarrassed to tell him what happened to me because I'm so shocked that they'd say something like that!! I guess I can't expect much from them, they're barely 21 yrs old, but it still hurts like hell.

Well, that really sucks. What a couple of little a$$holes. I'm so sorry. That had to really hurt. Good thing you're getting a band soon. Next time you see them you'll be even hotter than you are now and you can tell them to go f--- themselves.

I just can't believe the things people think are okay to say.

Jme, I'm sorry those guys were such jerks. Don't worry, karma will get them in the end. The next time you see them, you'll be lovely and they'll still be jerks.

Deb, your beach trip with tucker sounds great. Congrats on the self restraint when eating out. That can be so hard.

Prty, Count me in for the 20th. I'll see you at 7pm. I had my first real meal other than liquids after my fill, it was nice to eat a small amount and be full.

Mini, that is weird about the delayed fill reaction...have the rest of you had that before? For the challenge, I stayed the same this week.

Marcy, I want to come to your fill party. You know, 10 years from now, that might even be common as the band gets more popular.

Jaime! I'd be having a bad night too if that happened to me! I am so sorry! Those jerks! They aren't worth your time! They are young and stupid and they don't know a good woman when they see one! You're always going to be hot! Whether you are 70lbs overweight or 7lbs because you have a sweet personality and a cuteness! I'm glad you're married and you don't have to date and deal with all of the jerks out there! Men! They suck and not in a good way!!

Have fun in NY! Wow! You're so cosmo! I have been wondering the same thing! Where is our Munchie! I should call her, but it's late there. She should be at work!

I'm also curious. Wherefore art thou, Munchkin???
I miss our Munchkin Girl!!1

I'm so glad you're going to be at RR on Monday. I invited some other Colorado girls, I hope no one minds. They were asking if they could join us and I said, "yes!" The more the merrier and it's nice to meet others with a band!

I have heard of others having a delayed restriction. It's not that uncommon.

A fill party reminds me of a Botox party! Boy do I need some botox! Right between my eyebrows! Scary stuff!!!

Okay, well, I have decided tonight that I can't pretend to be something I am not (it's okay, dee, u may be my only friend after this:smile2:)

This week has been a difficult one for staying on a diet as last Saturday, Oct. 11, I married someone I have been committed to for 24 years. Her name is Janet Lynne, and we had the most beautiful of ceremonies.

I don't know people's politics here, but I do know that I have felt a closeness and support system I have not had elsewhere. If the fact that I am gay and have married my longterm partner has offended others, I guess I can refrain from posting here. However, that would make me sooooo sad, but I feel enough prejudice in my everyday life to withstand it on line. Hopefully, those of us who have felt the ugly tongue of hate for our weight will not subject that same pain on those of us who bear that ache for whom we love.

Oh my Sweet Deb!

I sat here and read your words and tears rolled down my face. You're so honest.

As you know I can only speak for myself, Deb. But I can tell you that I am so happy for you. IN our lives, we suffer many trials, big and small. If we are so blessed to find someone to love us and someone whom we can love - we deserve to partake in that happiness.

This world is filled with too much anger, ugliness and sadness, for anyone to turn their back on anyone for whom they love.

My heart is full for you. I'm so happy you've found the love of your life. And Deb, thank you for sharing this with everyone here. I know that took a lot of courage.

You're a good soul. And Janet Lynne is one lucky woman!

Love,

dee~

I feel the same way. Dee took the words right out of my mouth. Everyone deserves to be happy. I have no prejudice. We are all in this together. Life is sooo short....enjoy everyday. Feel free to talk openly about your life. We are still here for you.

Deb,

Congratulations!!! I am thrilled for you and Janet, and wish you two a long and happy life together! Love is to be cherished and celebrated, always.

Jaime,

What jerks! They need an ass whuppin'. You'll show their sorry butts with your new, hotter body and they can drool !!

Marie,

Thinking about you and your dad.

Everyone, I'm still around -- sorry if it's sporadic, but I'll catch up at some point. I can't stand the thought of losing the connection with all of you, but I'm not too band-focused right now for some reason. Thank God for my band, though, or I'd be gaining!

Ms. Deb~First of all congratulations to you and Janet. I wish you both many, many years of happiness together! 24 years is an amazing milestone. Please don't refrain from posting here, I will miss you. The most important lesson in life is to be happy, some people never find that happiness and they wonder through their lives searching and being bitter and sad.

oh, yeah...give Tucker a big kiss from Buster!

Peace Love!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
