Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

I have a copy of the two financing applications that they have at Dr K office. One is surgeryloans.com phone no. 1.888.502.8055, and the other is called medical financing solutions phone no. 1.800.728.9585.

The preop that I was on was a week of no carbs, which is a lot of Protein like in the Atkins.< /p>

So a couple weeks ago I had an in home sleep study done, mostly because my DH had been bugging me to get checked out. He was worried because apparently I don't breathe too well when I sleep. So I wear this contraption all night so it can measure the levels of oxygen and my heart rate, how much I breathe etc. I figured the results would get back to my PCP and that would be the end because nothing was wrong.

But I got a call from my PCP this week informing me that I have sleep apnea related hypoxia (not getting enough oxygen when I sleep), so now they are making an appointment with a pulmonologist for me. I admit that now I am getting a little worried. Dang DH was right!! Now he is more worried than ever and is constantly waking up to check on me.

Though now this does explain why I am always feeling exhausted. Even with my usual 7-9 hours of sleep. Sometimes I even take naps. I wonder if when I get this taken care of if I will start to lose faster? Any of you ladies have this condition too?

When I first went to see a bariatric/weight loss doc early last year - after our conversation, he suggested a sleep study because I was always exhausted and fall asleep easily no matter where. Yep, sleep apnea - so, I was prescribed a CPAP machine. Ugly, but it gives you a better nights sleep. I've been terrible about wearing it - but, it's a serious illness. Both my sisters have it and only one wears hers everynight. She raves about how well it helps her sleep. Mine is going in this week for recalabration and a new mask... I am committed to doing better, because its needed. You'll be fine, just follow the instructions. Plus, I read that we are hindering our weight loss efforts by not wearing our machine. Your weight will probably begin melting after you get adjusted to it.

Good Luck

Hi Lotza. I've been wearing a CPAP for years. It's been fantastic. I sleep better than ever before, and I can't stand to sleep without it now. It takes a little while to get used to it, but you'll feel so much better that you'll be happy to wear it.

Silly Dork!

A Stopcock (not what you think!) is a device that has three openings and a lever that allows you to change which opening is open -- so you can add fill, close that opening, then remove the needle, and add more fill -- this way you don't have to remove the catheter from the port. (sorry nurses, I was trying to explain it in lay terms) (no pun intended!)

 Figures it is something boring and medical. hehehe.

I have sleep apnea and have a CPAP as well. I actually have not used it since my surgery... although I should get back into the habit. Might help me get better sleep. I am sleepy a lot lately and have been blaming it on changing shifts. Probably the apnea still.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
