Hello Shesha. Pleased to meet you! And congratulations on baby Owen!

Mal, that list is tooooo funny. I need to lose the world's largest ball of tape!!! Or sh*t a gold brick!! Or have a cow (well, a calf)!

You can cook your steel cut oats either in a crockpot or on the stove. They take awhile to cook, so I used to cook up a weeks worth at a time and just keep the rest in the refrigerator and heat up the amount I wanted each day. I'm not a huge fan of sugar (sorry! Nobody throw anything at me!) so I usually just made my plain and then added some fruit. There is so much Fiber in them than the carbs are basically zero.

Shelbi - good job today for you as well!

Night night lap band ladies.

Mini~

When they are in the fridge, do they get lumpy?

I've not had a problem with that at all. I just dish some up in a bowl, add a splash of lowfat milk or whatever, then microwave for a minute. It took me awhile to get the right consistency, cooking time, etc. but it was worth the experimentation. Can't wait till I can add them back into my diet!

Then I'm sorta redoing part of the house and redoing the kids rooms and visiting goodwill every chance I get to unload some of this stuff...My inlaws were here for 3 weeks and my sister inlaw will be here on the 10th......:):mellow::eek::cool2::tt1::tt2:

Wow...how many weeks in a summer? I have my first back-to-work meeting Aug. 11....its going way too fast and way too busy!

HA!

the steel cuts are great! They do need to cook longer and they are more nutty than other oats. I hope you like that. cook them overnight in the crockpot -- I add dried fruit when I cook them, but I think the recipe Shelbi gave us said to add it after. I do add nuts, pecans or walnuts after they are done and I use honey instead of brown sugar!

Yum!!!

Way to go Dee! I did ok -- walked this morning about 1.5 miles and did 10 minutes on the stairs at lunch break; had tuna, Protein shake, Greek yogurt; and had my oats this morning -- delish! One day done! I'm feeling good about this; you??

Great Shelbi!

I think I might have some tuna tomorrow! That sounds good!

Well, I came home and my daughter had cooked this great meal. I was hungry even though I had no intention of eating, I had 1/4 cup of whole grain angel hair Pasta and 2oz of chicken breast and a few grape tomatoes. She's so thoughtful. My fats stayed down, I didn't eat Red meat and I ate my oats.

I actually love my oats!

I'm proud of us Shelbi! You're a good egg! Don't you love that Greek Yogurt? Yum!:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
