Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

My name is Nicole and I was referred her by Dee from the OH webpage. I haven't had my one on one with Dr. K yet, but it is scheduled for July 29th. I have a few questions about everything:

1. Is it better to have your loan and everything ready to go before the consultation or should I wait?

2. What happens after the consultation and how long do the next stages take?

3. What tests does he require before he will consider you for surgery?

Sorry to ask so many questions, I am just too damn excited for my consultation that I feel like I can do SOMETHING until then! :biggrin2:

Thanks for your help!

Hi Nicole~

I am Brandy, I was banded by Dr. K on 12/12 and must say it is hands down, the best decision of my life (besides my kids)!!

1. Is it better to have your loan and everything ready to go before the consultation or should I wait? For me, I wanted everything in order...it just made the process faster. If you have everything lined up and decide to go with Dr. K, you can schedule surgery the day of your consult.

2. What happens after the consultation and how long do the next stages take? For me it was pretty fast, about 5 weeks from start to finish.

3. What tests does he require before he will consider you for surgery?

I didn't have any tests for Dr. K, I did do a full physical and blood work up before. This was only for me though...I am glad that I did do it. I was able to lower my thyroid meds and my cholesterol is now well into the normal limits. Talk to your PCP they can let you know if you should/shouldn't do any pre-op tests.

Congrats on this big step. It is a great journey!! Welcome to this board, it is the best one on here!!!

Woohoo!!! Banding has occurred. I am back in my hotel room. Things went well - a few small problems (hernia, etc) but he got me all fixed up! Not feeling much pain right now, just a little gas. Gonna lounge around and watch the tube. I'll probably not post more tonight, but definitely tomorrow.

Brandy ~ Thanks for the info, I greatly appreciate it! I think I will start the process then, so I have loan in place and ready to go. So is it really just $9950 or is there tax or something? As far as physical and blood work, I had all that done a few months ago, so I think that should be good.

Mini ~ Congrats on the band! I hope you heal quickly and are pain free!

Nicole~WELCOME! Brandy pretty much covered it, Dr. K and his staff are amazing. I am so happy with my band and the only regret I have is that I didn't get it done earlier! Hope to see you around.

Mini~Thanks for checking in and letting us know you are doing well. Rest well my friend!

Brandy~I was wondering if you could send me that info we talked about lastnight. Thanks so much!

Yay, Mini! Welcome to the other side!

Welcome, Nicole! Glad you've found us here.

FW: Thinking of you, your friend and your daughter. I'm so sorry about this tragedy. I can't even imagine.

Lap: I can't waited to get the scoop on your PS! Go get 'em. A big kudos to you on your weight loss -- good job!

Deb: How'd the phone consult go today?

Sidann: I didn't have a last meal before surgery either. I was too afraid that Dr. K wouldn't like the way my liver looked and would refuse to do my surgery. That was one of the first things I asked him post-op -- how was my liver. I was liver obsessed.

Mal & Dee : Details, please, on the matching tattoos that you got last night! You wild, wild women!

Brandy: You sound (post?) like you're doing good -- I'm thinking the slight unfill and Prevacid has done the trick, yes? And a big ups to you and Denise for the 10's. I can only dream....

Hey, Lifesaver! Hope you're doing well.

Hi Jill, how's it going?

Marcy, How are you?

Munchkin -- What's up?

and how 'bout a shout out to the MIAs -- Woofay, Michelle, Taynuh, et al -- what's new??

Hello everyone!! I didn't forget about you, I was having major internet connectivity issues over the last few days! I was starting to get frantic because they kept saying they were fixing it, but I would try to log on and nothing...then I decided to try one last time awhile ago and guess what...here I am!

Mini!!!!!!!! YOU DID IT!!!!!:o:thumbup::Banane30::thumbup::biggrin::thumbup: Big hugs from Illinois, I hope your tummy isn't too sore!!

I am so wishing I could have been there to go to dinner with you guys! That would have been so fun! I also so wish I didn't have to take all my vacation time for my foot surgery in August so I could fly out and go to the BBQ!! Waah, I don't get to do anything fun!!

Dee-I also want to personally hunt down the restaurant asshole and put the screws to him!! I may be small but I am mighty!! (And awfully bitchy alot of the time, tell him he does not want to mess with me or my Dee!) Seriously, what an ass! But I totally agree with everyone else, at least he showed his true colors before you put any further effort into him! Tell the new man he better treat you in the manner you deserve or he will have to contend with the Munchkin!! (When I worked on the casino, we used to have state police officers that worked there to oversee the gaming. They used to call me "the vicious little chihuahua", because they said I was deceiving because I looked all sweet and cute until someone screwed with me, then I turned into the aforementioned chihuahua! So see, he better be good to you or I WILL fly there all the way from Illinois!!)

Mal-OMG, I would totally FREAK out if one of my dogs ran away from me! Seriously, you must have been terrified! But I love that Buster stopped and looked for traffic before he went out into the street! Too cute! I am so glad he is safe and sound and back with you!

Shelbi-What's happening chickie?? How did spin class go? I was thinking of you today when I saw some gal in full cycling regalia!

FW-I am really sorry about your daughters friend. That is so hard. I went to a code in the ER about 2 months ago, and it was a 19 year old that looked an awful lot like my 19 year old stepson. It was hands down the hardest code I have ever had to go to. We were not able to resuscitate him, and I walked back to the ICU, walked in, and just started bawling. I felt so horrible for this kids mom in the ER after we pronounced him. She thought it was her fault because she felt like something was wrong earlier and she had left him to go somewhere...she was screaming and crying...talking about how kids aren't supposed to die before their parents...it was just horrible.

I am grateful to be a nurse, because while it is a very hard job sometimes, I am frequently reminded that life is often too short and taken away when we least expect it. It is very humbling to say the least.

Bahot-I love firemen too! My first husband was a fireman, and my best friend in the entire world is a fireman also! He was my preceptor on the ambulance forever ago when I went to EMT school. I have all kinds of friends on the fire dept also from when I went to EMT school and worked on the ambulance. They are a great bunch of guys! The practical jokes they play on each other just about kill me! Too funny! And way to go on the size 10s!! I have been thinking about venturing into The Limited but I am not quite skinny enough yet! Soon! (I used to work at The Limited a very long time ago...loved the discount!)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
