Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Part II

Happy Sunday everyone:

Just finished lunch. Boston Market chicken, baked, peeled the skin off, couple bites of apples and I was full. I've revamped my eating plan to an Occam's Razor food Plan.

William of Ockham: "entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem", or "entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity".

This entity (me) tends to flounder in the cumbersome thoughts of planning too much or trying to do too much at the same time. Simplest method works best for me. Simpliest solution is where I succeed.

In talking with Paula we came up with some simple solutions to my food plan. One I'll mention in my Protein choice, liquid, Profect Protein Beverage:

Lap Band Rockies - Profect Protein Beverage 4-Pack Sampler

They look like those shots that glow served in test tubes at the bar. Yeah. So one vile is 25 grams, I mix it with Water and I've started ( 3 days) doing one for lunch and splitting one for snack mid-morning with Water for a BOOST inbetween meals. I figure 12 grams of protein is better than 100 calories of nothing since I know my body responds well to protein.

I am cutting out the 100 pack Snacks. I'm not going to lie to you all. Last week I had purchased the cheese flavor brand of a 100 pack snack. Thought WOW, I love these. See, that is the problem. I don't simply love a food, I loooooooove a food. So rather than a simple addition to my food plan like normal people do, I ingest something that I LOVE and suddenly it becomes FOOD PORN and I'm having an orgy. I ate four bags of the 100 over the course of the afternoon. Next morning the scale was up (high salt content) 3 pounds and now I'm busy getting off ONCE AGAIN, what I had already taken off. That crap has got to stop. I'm just gettin' too old for this. I feel like an obstanant child.

It's Sunday and I am now below the gain radar. Thank God.

Planning now for the week. It looks something like this:

Muscle Milk-Vanilla Cream (from Walgreens) 19 grams of protein

with my morning coffee.

Midmorning Protein-Profect 1/2 vile with water.

Lunch: Muscle Milk or food or wait if you aren't hungry and eat at home after work.

Dinner: Light item that fills in the gaps of the morning, greens, Proteins, milk, cereal/flex to need

Late: peach tea with protein sauce. ((grins))

..............................................

time for reading and meditation.

A movie.

A book.

Ready items for work.

Bed time.

Good Job Lapdancer!

I'm the same way, if I don't plan for my week's meals, I end up failing!

I can't rely on Protein Drinks,I have to eat my protein or I feel really deprived and I don't lose as well.

I love planning my food, the protein, the whole grain carbs and veggies. It's like a puzzle for me.

Each Tuesday morning, I weigh and then I graph it on my excel spreadsheet. So each Tuesday morning, I've decided I'm going to make a new challenge for myself. Last weeks was NO SIMPLE SUGARS! Next week is going to be to get my 7 hours of sleep each night! I'm failing drastically at that!

Good Luck Dear! Looks like you're doing great! I loved your Food Porn description. I am just like you! I am an addict! There is no other way to say it!

Hugs,

dee~

Hi Shelbi!

How did the rest of your weekend go? Did you continue with success? Anymore PB's or Slimes?

I've been thinking about you each time, I sit down to eat.

dee~

Hi Dee -- Ah, thanks for thinking of me! I did great through the weekend -- no PBs or slimes at all. Even had some very moist chicken at lunch. The counting helps me SO much. I've also told my boys that I need a small bite, 30 chews and then count to 10 before the next bite and they're trying to do it to. I think I'm at a good place with my fill after all -- just need to keep my head in the game!

Your so helpful and sweet Dee! God love ya!!!

Hi Brandy!

Thanks! That is sweet of you! I hate to be so verbose sometimes! I know that what works for me doesn't work for everyone. There are a lot of factors that make things hard at times. Work, children, husbands etc etc. can all make following the rules difficult.

Love you too,

dee~

:lol:Hi

In regards to the BBQ what exactly would we they be serving? My husband thought it was so funny a bunch of lapbanded people trying to enjoy a BBQ. Seriously though I know its more about getting together than eating.

Have a good day!

Lizzieann

:confused2: I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "Your husband thought it was so funny a bunch of lapbanded people trying to enjoy a BBQ". There are plenty of healthy dishes people can have for BBQ's. Just because were banded doesn't make us freaks or any different from anyone else. Besides not everything has to be about the food. It's about networking with other patients and sharing ideas. Sorry that your husband thought it was funny but I thought it was a great gesture on Dr. Kirshenbaum's behalf to want to put this together for us and I am very grateful.

I know what you mean Dee!! I think that each person has to find what works for them...I have also fallen off a bit. Eating to fast, drinking to little Water etc.

I am really trying, heading off to the gym right now and hopefully today will be a better eating day!

My life just seems chaotic right now, so I am trying to re-organize my house and get back to "normal". Whatever that is!

I woke up this morning, my 3 Month Bandiversary and stepped on the scale!!! I lost 7 lbs this week!

I've lost 44 total since surgery, 64lbs since my highest weight!

I started Interval Training last Monday. I think that and the fact that I gave up all Simple Carbs made me get over the plateau. The week before I did the pleateau buster diet and maybe the scale waited to move until this week.

I have no idea, but something worked!

The Interval Training is kicking my hiney! My muscles are sore!

My life has changed so much in the last 3 months. I'm more energetic and I'm happier - I do admit that I'm getting that dreaded Turkey Gobbler neck and I now have a marionette face - looks like I'm now a puppet on a string!

Thanks for being with me during the pre-op days - the surgery - and the last 3 months. It's been quite the ride and having you all there along has made it that much sweeter!

I love you Guys!:w00t::w00t::coolgleamA::thumbup::cool2:

You're so cute Shelbi!

I loved reading why you edited your post!

I had to edit mine last week because I kept pushing the wrong buttons!

Did your son enjoy the walk?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
