Good luck Dee! Remember, it's all about RECOVERY after the surgery so take your pain meds, walk a little, drink a lot, and enjoy the down time!

OK, so I'm not on all that much...been busy here. Things are slowing down, but not the weather! We've had TWO blizzards in less than a week! Looks like another is on its way in! We've had record snowfall too! Ahhh, gotta love Nome Sweet Nome!

I skipped working out a couple of times last week due to being WAY TOO busy with getting a fundraiser together, but that's all done now and I can work on my next project.

I noticed my muscles were popping out this weekend. I showed my boys (flexed and unflexed) and they were pretty impressed! I'm actually LOOKING FORWARD to having the swinging arm skin! I feel good, just would like the wind to give it a rest! Makes me want to just stay at home and watch TV!

Hey guys: Getting nervous!! I can't seem to get my mind around this. Part of me feels like I don't want to give up my "friend". I don't know if anyone else felt this way so close to surgery. I like eating! I like cooking! I don't like being fat. Any thoughts to get myself mentally ready for this big change? I don't want to fail!

For those of you who traveled to Dr. K, what did you do if you had problems? Like with incisions, or the port? Did you see your PCP? I can't afford to fly to Denver too often.

Good luck to tied2bfit. I am thinking about you.

Good luck Tied2BeFit!

I am so antsy to get this done already. I have never been a very patient person. I am on LBT every chance I get when it is slow at work -- I have a desk job -- and it's just making me want it more. I get really antsy when there's nothing to do but wait. All I really need to do is get a comfy outfit or two to wear around when I'm in CO (since all of my current comfy sweatpants, yoga pants, etc are so worn that they aren't fit for public view).

Brandy, I think I was walking out when you were just abt ready to get your fill. Did you have a little one with you? If so I think I saw you for just a second.

How did it go? It was my first time and rather "strange". I feel some restriction so hopefully I'll start losing again.

Still doing the treadmill 2 days down thousands more to go...:rolleyes2::cool2:

Tiny~

Dr. K was $9950.00 in Colorado. To me that was cheaper than anywhere in the US and I had peace of mind that I was not in Mexico. I just happened to luck out and have him local!

Bahot!

You rock girl!!! I am trying to get motivated to working out, it is just so cold and dark in the mornings!!! (That is me whining!!!)

Yep, that was me with 2 little ones. My daughter was the dark haired cutie and the blonde "afro" was my little day care girl. We brought LOTS of princesses' so that they were plenty distracted!

Isn't the fill process crazy?? I thought that I was going to have a major panic attack at the first one. It didn't hurt, but the "sound" of when he goes in and out of the port, seriously makes me want to climb the walls. What did you get filled to? I am at 4.15cc now, and can tell a little difference. I lost 3 pounds in 3 weeks. He seemed ok with that, but I am not. I have the mentality that I paid 10k for this, I want to be at goal by 9 months...not 18-24 months. But that is me...

Will you be at RR next week?? I am planning on going, hopefully we can meet face to face then!

Brandy, The fill was "strange", I am so scared of needles that Natalie had to hold my hand. I am at 4.6. I have restriction that is for sure. I ate a little chicken and some green Beans for dinner. Had Soup for lunch and that was about it for today. I am getting ready to head up and do some sit-ups now that I got the clearance. Your little one is cute. I am hoping to go to RR next week I have to ck my hubby's schedule. I would like to meet that would be great.:frown:

Keep up the great work and talk to ya soon.

Hey Friends!

Widow..You will be able to eat but don't you think the better way to say it is that you want to be able to have the choice to eat something...with control rather than overload? That was my feeling. For a while you can count on WANTING to stick to post op food plans. For me, by the time I got around to trying something that was not healthy...like a potato chip...it was not THAT tasty. My taste buds changed.

Biggest struggle right now is I am a night time eater. I have grand portion control..no problems at all. It's just a nasty old habit for me to eat at 11 PM. I think this slowed my weightloss.

Marcy..buffed now aye? Too cool for you!!!!

How is everyone else doing?

Post back.

Good luck to tied2bfit. I am thinking about you.

I first took care of making sure I had aftercare "close by". I knew that there are docs here in Nome who could take care of some basic issues, but I interviewed a doc in Anchorage who does fills and made sure he was cool with being a back-up problems solver for the Nome docs if an issue occurred. THAT WOULD BE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING - GET A DOC NEAR YOU WHO IS ON-BOARD WITH YOU! :cool2:Now, I didn't have any real issues - my incisions were great, I was able to get around fine, didn't need a lot of pain meds, and progressed onto mushies and regular food well. As mentioned before, I DID have a little pain near my port - sharp pain - which I called Dr. K about. He returned my call within the hour and we talked for a bit about it...we determined that it was nerve pain and it DID go away within a few weeks (which he said was normal). Dr. K's office is ALWAYS available, but I haven't had any issues to really bring up with him/them. I email Marilyn with an update every once in a while, but not much really....I was VERY comfortable with traveling so far and coming back home - even considering the limited health care options we have here.

Tied2bfit - WAHOO!!!! Here you go!:frown:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
