Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

I have some other news, girls, that I would love to share! I usually order my clothes through "Woman Within" (or the old Lane Bryant catalog) I have been soooo looking forward to my order coming, cuz, well, nothing fits me and I wanted to wear something Thursday night that actually fit. So, the order came yesterday! Yay! I used to order a 3X for shirts and a 26-28 for my britches. So, I ordered a XL for my shirts this time and an 18 for my britches. The britches fit fine. But...the shirts are all too big! I had to send them back today to exchange them for a regular L!!!!! OMG! I realize they run large with that company...but OMG! I haven't worn that since right after high school. So, needless to say, I still have no shirts that fit for Thursday night. I also bought the most beautiful coat...but I had to send that back too. Oh well...you'll see me in appropriate clothing in Feb!!

:whoo::whoo::whoo:

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

What a great thing to read today. Anita I am so happy for you. YES, I understand about the hubby thing. When I hit the 20's, I flew into the living room with fists punching the air shouting "yes! YES!" and he turned his head and stared at me. Didn't crack a smile, raised one eyebrow and says, "What" not WHAT?or what? or WHAT! but (what) :phanvan

If I had to live in his world I would be so so ... :notagree

Munchkin thanks for the youthful nod my way. Hope to meet you some day.

:clap2: GET OUT! I'm on Dr. K's website????? No way. :nervous

Be right back>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hey Sunshine,

I am so sorry for your pain -- I really hope that you're feeling better soon! Hang in there! :) And I'm hoping naturally that I don't have anything pain meds won't touch, but who knows what will happen? I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope for the best...just counting down the days now. First to pre-op diet and then to the big day!

Thats the bad thing too- the pain meds I have do not seem to touch it:(

Thanks for your support everyone!

Anita! Congrats on those smaller clothes! I love it! I had to buy a 4xl scrub pants to replace my 5 xl's and my daughter was folding the laundry the other day and she came running in the bedroom, "Moma (that's what she calls me) you're wearing a smaller size?" She was beaming! What a great NSV -- having your child beam with pride! Damn, I love that girl!! Heather is right, Lane Bryants does run small. I think, anyway. I also have much smaller clothes calling my name. I have a smaller pair of jeans that I bought when I first planned my surgery. I have them hanging in the front of the closet where I see them everyday. Also a tinier Babydoll blouse! I can't wait to wear them! Yeah!!!

Heather, I hope your doggie is there! I still feel so bad about not getting our "Barry" -- he was such a dollbaby and he would have added so much joy to our lives. I pray that he went to a good home. If your husband divorces you because of the doggie, just get in your car and drive west and then south! I'll be waiting! Just think you can get your fills from Dr. K!

Mal, Great story! have you heard of suspenders? I had to buy some for my scrubs before I finally got a smaller size. I had a hard time finding a pair. I would ask the very young clerk @ Target or Wal-mart and they looked at me like I had two heads! Yes, my head is freakishly large and the size of two normally sized heads, BUT suspenders are not that odd of a clothing item! Did you know that the human head (normal size, not mine) weighs about 8 lbs? I've lost just over one human head. How many human heads have you lost?

(frequently at work, I lose my own!)

Can't wait to see all of your pretty pretty faces tonight!!!

Hugs,

dee~

Oh! I forgot, my goal Mal is to do the Susan G Koman walk this year! We should have a Lap Band group do it together. I'll be walking in honor of my Grandma Juanita. She died when she was 61 y/o of Breast CA with Met. I was a freshman in HS. She was the sweetest Grandma, the type who'd get on the floor with the kids and play games. Anita, she loved Christmas music (and Josh is always acceptable! -- I got that one for my daugther in her stocking) and listened to it year round -- she also had a Christmas tree in every room! Don't you love those kinds of Grandmas?

Dee~ Congrats on the smaller scrubs! Suspenders...I love it!! I have always been an accesories kind of gal (since clothes never fit)...you know the hats, scarves, shoes, bags, earings and oh yeah, the crazy pink sparkly sunglasses, now suspenders, hmmmmm, I could rock that! LOL...I crack myself up! AND you crack me up about the head thing. I have a ginormous head!! I like to tell people it is because my brain is sooo large. Lets see, I have lost 6.38 human heads...LMAO I haven't weighed myself in a week or so, my scale broke??? Maybe it needs a new battery??? HOPEFULLY I have lost 7 heads.

Sorry to hear about your Grandma. She sounded like a sweet and very special person.

I must admit that I had four Christmas trees this year. One is still up!

I was banded yesterday at 3p.m. by Dr. K, and I am wondering if anyone has some insight to this pain that I am feeling. I don't know if its gas or what. My shoulder feels fine, but I have this awful burning feeling in the pit of my stomach below my sternum every time I take a deep breath in. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Its VERY painful. I really don't even have to breathe deep, but any breathing hurts

Thanks!

YES dear. My shoulder felt really weird with pain. I was told that can happen. The breathing part....man, I feel for you. Try liquid Tylenol OR do you have that script from Dr. K for the liquid pain stuff? Hooah! Take that. Go easy on yourself. sleep alot. Sip room temp Water. I drank PROPEL strawberry kiwi Water at room temp. I sipped it. I ate french onion Soup, the good stuff from...Bennigans is it? I think so. Hubby left me at the Holiday Inn to sleep and let me tell ya did I sleep. I only got up to pee, take my liquid stuff and go back to bed. I did shower and put on fresh jammies.

I sucked that recovery period for every ounce and inch of "easy" I could get. I did not push it at all.

Rest friend. It gets sooo much better.

Patty

LA~yeah, it would take me about a year to find enough sponsors to raise $1800.00...I just don't know enough people~then they say you can put the remaining balance on a credit card, or you can volunteer to work the walk. If you can't complete the $1800.00 required amount, your sponsors don't get their money bac and you can't participate. I used to tent camp, but once I found the Yurts I gave up on tent camping...not comfy enough for me...especially if I have to get up and walk a marathon??? I will stick to the Susan Koman Race for the Cure and maybe find another one to participate in this year. My son (13) is going tot do a triatholon this year. There is no way I could do the swimming, it has been so long since I have been in a bathing suit, I forgot how to swim!

Woofay~I know it was hysterical1 ya' know I never had to tie those pants before! didn't even think about it and they are so light weight that I didn't realize they were falling down until they were down!!! LOL oh well, thank goodness I still wear big long t shirts to hide my bottom...eeeeek!

When I look at the RR pics of months past, I truly don't see a big difference in myself. I even have a before surgery picture and a 6 month picture, not much difference there either (waiting to see more results before posting those). I know there is a difference but I just don't see it~strange, the mental thing.

munchkin~you should post a picture of your inspiration pants! and the pupppy...did you get it? I just love dogs! did you check out the "puppy pics" thread? They are all adorable...LOVE IT!

Did you make it to the gym?

See my LB buddies tonight!!!

Mal I know where you are coming from. I have to look at the picture taken at Dr. K's office the day before my surgery to really know that I have lost weight. Putting my makeup on in the morning requires less SURFACE AREA...isn't that weird I would notice something like that? But it is true. I have bones in my face that I can see at my jawline. I have to make sure that my makeup is blended there instead of one great big rub that happened to cover my huge hanging chin.

That suspenders story is funny. REALLY funny. Did you sneeze or something?

>>I remember my mother telling a story about a time when she and my grandmother were walking down the sidewalk window shopping. A lady was walking the other way and they noticed what they thought was her slip falling down. She just stepped out of it and kept going. When they got closer they realized...it was her underwear! hahahahah.:omg:

Dee~ My momma is like that too...christmas stuff and trees galore. I had it great growing up and now my kids have the great gramma too. (but not great grandma... not yet...although my nephew did just get married...could it be??? ha) Can't wait to see ya tonight!

Hi All -

I hope to see lots of you tonight. Can't wait. I haven't lost a lot more, but people are saying stuff to me, like wow, you look really good, not so much about being thinner, but my general health is soooooooo much better.

About the clothing - My big clothes are like bags, when I go from a big bag to a smaller bag, there isn't a great deal of difference. I remember from past diets that I had to get a lot closer to my goal (ugh, takes forever)(within 50 pounds - being a shorty) for the sizes to really start changing. Every 10 -14 pounds dropped for me was another size.

Hugs hope to see you tonight,

Michelle

Mal-I'm with Woofay...I almost peed my pants when I read that post about your running down the hall with your pants around your ankles! But then when Anita added the basset hound to the mix....LOL!!

I sadly did not get my puppy, and now I am mad at the humane society. My best friend and I went there last week to get him. He wasn't back in the "general population" of adoptable dogs. We asked a girl at the desk if he was in the isolation room being treated for something...she had not clue, took no ititiative to even check, just told me he was adoped out. Well, he was there today, and I got soooo excited when I saw him. Then I found out that he had been there the whole time, even last week when we were there, in isolation as we suspected, and now he has been adopted out to some people from Wisconsin. :) So I was really bummed, because if it hadn't been for that dimwit at the desk last week I could have paid for him and waited for him to be ready to be taken home. He was hysterical-typical Jack Russell, LITERALLY bouncing off the walls. I thought he was going to give himself a head injury! And of course he liked me, which made it all that much worse. He was adorable-all white except for tan on his ears, tail, and a little tan ring around his eye. And yes, I did look at the puppy thread. So cute. On the other end of the spectrum, they had a HUGE Turner & Hooch mastiff there. He was great. He had an adoption pending or I would have taken him. I would definantly be getting divorced if I come home with a mastiff!

One of these days I will post my motivation jeans pics....I got a virus on my computer and I need to reload all my camera software. I have tons of pics to download from a coworkers wedding too. Maybe next week on my day off!

Hope you guys all had a great time at RR tonight! Wish I could have been there to meet you all in person!

You all need to kick me in the butt...I have been fighting with my husband and subsequently eating horrible. Not as horribly as in the past, but still not good. Give me a swift kick in the pants ladies!!

Dee,

I think all nurses lose their heads at work, it's kind of like a job requirement. Rembember the cute little kid in the movie Jerry Maguire that was always talking about how the human head weighs 8 pounds? He was adorable-he made that movie for me.

See my above bummer post about my doggy. But is Shawn divorces me (or if I divorce him which will probably be more likely) I will definantly think about relocating! That will be one long drive with 4 hyper labs though!

Suspenders, what are those? Whah ha ha, just kidding!

I would be interested (if I can afford it) in flying out to do the Susan G. Koman walk with you guys! My mother is also a breast cancer survivor, she got is premenopausal at the age of 45. I have been getting yearly mammograms since I was 30. Anyway, let me know when it is and I will see if I can arrange for some time off and check on plane tickets. I think that would be awesome for us to all get a group together and do that!

PEOPLE TAKE BEFORE PICTURES!! Because I wouldn't realize just how much my appearance is changing if I hadn't.

Michelle I know what you mean about having to lose quite a lot before changing sizes. I WISH I COULD SEE YOU!! ( and everyone else)

Nick...luck with the fill. I love Colorado!

Did anyone take pictures last night? Anita and Mal would love to see you girls.

Anyone hear from Sunny? How's she doing?

More details about RR. Did anyone take pictures? Let me know.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
