Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Mal - I LOVE LOVE LOVE your pictures!!! :bounce: Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Marcy - I'm curious.... is it crazy expensive to have things shipped to your house?? I'd probably go crazy on drugstore.com or something and let them ship a ton of necessities to me to not use up the precious bucket space! My husband is from a very very small town and you have to do all your shopping in another place, but your situation is much more extreme than that.

Thanks gals!

Lap~I heard that it was once thought that carbonated drinks could stretch the pouch, but I'm not certain that there is proof to that??? I'm not a soda drinker, but I like to have a beer every now and then.

I LOVE your fall leaves

Hello girls!

Haven't posted for a while, but do check in...love to see these WONDERFUL pictures! Wow, Mal, I am proud of you...I live right near the high country (Ouray, Telluride, Grand Mesa) and NEVER do anything that resembles your adventure ~it always seems like so much work to pack and get out of town...but, my whole outlook on things is wonderously changing since I have been banded...Life is beginning to sparkle, and with it, I forsee much branching out and taking hold of what life has to offer! BTW, you look GREAT!

Lap~ your posts are so uplifting and encouraging..thanks for sharing with us. How are your physical issues doing?

Marcy ~ do you order or go get your stuff and fly it in? I have lived half an hour to 45 minutes out of town before, and can't say I want to do it again. It would have been more enjoyable had I been able to have livestock where I lived, etc. Do you homeschool? How far are you from a store if you have to run in and get milk, or something? I do believe that homesteading can be an incredibly appealing way to live for various reasons!

Michelle ~ how is the IRS fun going? I hope it is going well!

littleroo ~ how have you been feeling?

Woof ~ how's the new port??

I am sure I forgot someone...it is hard to catch up even after a couple of days!

I know you have all been losing sleep at night wondering how I have been progressing, surviving, living, and losing, so I'll update!:D

My pain is finally minimal, and I wake up forgetting I had the surgery, instead of hunching over like an overdue woman in labor! Most of my scars are keloiding, which REALLY bums me out, but oh well...let's see..fat, scars...fat, scars...hmmmm, hard choice! :P...but, they ARE kinda ugly!

I am down 1.5 pant sizes...by butt and thighs could hit the down 2 sizes, but this budda belly is struggling and can't be stuffed any tighter. I have only had one.."gawd, Kelly, THAT was a stupid thing to put in your mouth" moment...soggy one day left over from family chinese food outing (which, I might add, I ordered egg drop soup!) sweet and sour chicken...it is NOT a mushie, I repeat NOT a mushie!:rose:

I am enjoying the weight loss immensely...I must say watching the scale needle spaz to the left is quite a stunning, puppy head cocked to the side, experience for me. I thought the needle was super glued for the last year!

I am trying to ride the wave of weight loss before it slams to a screeching halt, once food with a crunch and texture is no longer my arch enemy!

Now, am I the only freak who willingly lifts up her shirt to show that I had the surgery?? Not to complete strangers, of course, but to friends and acquantances who ask what I have been up to...WRONG question to ask me right now! I feel like a giddy lapband billboard.

Hope everyone is well, at peace, smiling, and embracing life.

Hugs

Kelly

Nice to hear from you want2! I truly enjoy your posts. And YES, it is alot of work, that is why I bring an entire Army with me (I get to be the Supervisor)...LOL

1.5 pant sizes?!?!? CONGRATS!! That is sooooo GREAT!!! Keep up the good work (Supervisor mode again...)

That is sooo funny what you said about pulling up your shirt and showing people, I soooo did that. Someone would ask how I was doing and I would just pull up my shirt and show off my scars. My husband was so freaked out that I would do that. He kept telling me to stop it....FUNNY!!! AND, I would make my friends and family feel my port....LOL!!!

Have a GREAT DAY!!!

WOOF~ where are you??? I miss you!!!

Good morning! Sounds like all are doing well. Mal~ your pictures are great! It looks like soooooo much fun! And you look great too. It shows on your face in that pic, the loss and the sparkle in your eyes! (and what was that in your hand???:P)

I've been busy lately. I've had friends, 2 sets of Aunts and Uncles, In-laws and my brother popped in on Sunday night....whew!:faint:Luckily not all at the same time! (inlaws and brother overlapped one day) All that company kinda ruins a diet. And the final blow is my brother. Goodness we can really eat together! (rats!) So now I'm up a couple of pounds and I'm not happy about it at all. I'm kinda surprised at how much I can eat right now. Maybe I need a fill? Make sure its good and tight before the holidays to keep the food outta my mouth.:rose: Then I gotta see my brother the first week of Nov for the wedding and Thanksgiving and Christmas. Man, maybe I should get a big fill!

Wise choices and healthy day all! (coming from the girl who ate Cookies and chips yesterday...:D)

Hi Woofay!

How awesome, you got to see your bro again!!!

Thanks for the compliments, I haven't lost any pounds in such a long time, I am losing in inches though. I really like to see the scale go down but I'll take the inches too. I hope this fill helps.

I tried to hide my beer in the picture....awwwww BUSTED!!!

Hi all -

My mom did well in her hip surgery. Better than i did eating out all day yesterday and then coming home and binging on reeses Peanut Butter cups, I couldn't stop. Yikes!!!!

The band is doing its job, I'm not. My therapist suggested I be kind to myself this week, guess she knows how I handle stress.

Good news is that the IRS is only a week away, and I figure they won't send me to jail, and my numbers are close to my claim, but they may disallow some stuff.

And I have still been exercising. Now that is a change of habit.

Hugs all - this too will pass and I am looking forward to Mexico the end of Oct.

Michelle

Dynamo~I am happy to hear that your mom is doing well. How long will she in the hospital? You sure do have a lot going on. I'm thinking about ya'!

Good job, keep up the excercising! I actually look forward to the gym. I would really love to see the scale move though!

IRS in a week...eeewww, I don't envy you there! I am such a terrible bookeeper. I have everything...somewhere in one of the many boxes labeled "TAXES", gosh, I pray that I NEVER get audited!!! I think you will be fine, it will all be over with soon!

Hi all,

Anyone out there utilize the card the Doctor gave us, asking restaurants to allow us to order from the kids'/seniors' menus? And if so, how did that go? I haven't tried yet, because I fear rejection by waitstaff? So far, I've just shared my meals with my daughter... but there are times when she's not with me... plus...TGIF's has an awesome looking kids bbq ribs plate I want...:)

Taynuh~ I've never used it...but I've never found a kids menue I wanted anything from. (plus I love to have left overs the next day) My hubby is a general manager for RUBY TUESDAY and I know he has told me he honors them, even before I had the band. (did you see the capital letter plug there, guys? ha!) Let me know how other companies handle it as you find out. Good luck! :)

I had my band placed on Aug 29 by Dr. Ariel Oritz at the Obesity Control Clinic in Tj. I just have to say it was an all in all positive experience. The clinic is new, staffing is far superior to what you see in the states, as was the overall care. I am an RN so I was very critical of the facility and care.

Everyone there is very concerned and responsive. I have had no problems with my band, was up shopping the next day, and to the beach the day after that.

I will be going back for my first fill on Oct 11.

I highly recommend Dr. Ortiz:clap2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
