Mal! Your back! Did you have a great time? Was it hot? Where all did you go?

I had fun, but I over id it and I am EXHAUSTED!! It was WWWAAAYYY HOT! I tried not to be outside for very long. This time, went Downtown, playe some Blackjack, danced my butt off, they had a 70's band...I LOVE my DISCO!!! We went to a couple of clubs and danced more. Took the kids to ride the coaster an NY NY and then they went out one night to the Stratosphere and rode the rides at the top. Wlaked the strip a little bit one night, I wanted to see the Billagio fountians again. We wanted to check out he Lions at the MGM, they were sleeping, boring! Checked out the Lexus & Excaliber. Hubby won $800.00, I lost, so I gave up playing after the second day. Friends wanted to hit the nuddy pool...I laughed in their faces!! They are all skinny and in great shape, I backed out of that one, don't even think I would have gone if I were skinny and in shape...just not my style! They went and had a good time.

I had a cold slushie drink and thought of you, but it was red not blue!

I thought I was going to go crazy with the food, but I couldn't eat much for some reason. We went o two buffets and what a waste of $$, I could only eat maybe one fourth og a plate....I guess that's good. I felt starving but couldn't eat...I was diggin' that!

Dynamo and Mal~ thanks for the well wishes. Grandpa wanted to see his great grandbabies yesterday, so I took the kids up to the hospital. I think he was very happy to see them. I ate a salad when I got home from that instead of pigging out on something I really wanted and made it past the "food triggers". Maybe the scale will say something good today...:(

GOOD FOR YOU!!! Hang in there! I know what it's like. I just had a Turkey sandwich for lunch and couldn't pass up the chips...so I had a few, not as much as I would have before, which could of been the entire bag. i had one hand full and put the bag away...they were delicious!!

Mal~ I get another fill on the 10th, I forgot what day you said your fill is. Is it the 11th? Do you think your ready? Is your scale still moving? How did you do in Vegas? Everything there is soooo yummy, from Starbucks drinks to cocktails to dessert buffets....mmmmmmmm. If I had been in front of one of those dessert cart thingies the other day (sunday) I probably would have blown my stomach apart!:hungry:

My fill is July 2nd, my very first! I am ready!! This will be your third? Have you had one a month? I hope i can get a good fill the first time, I really hate to take time off of work.

Great read Mal. Got pictures??? Loved hearing about Vegas. I've never been. It seems to be the hot spot to go to.

VA Bandster - You will not want for something to do in Vegas. I went with my husband last year (he had a conference...actually stayed for the whole thing, which, apparently, is odd). We don't smoke, drink, or gamble, so it was interesting to say the least. We caught a couple of shows, but there's so much FREE stuff to do....just walk down the sidewalk! DO NOT, however, get suckered into a timeshare meeting that will give you free tickets to see stuff...they even try to get you to go AWOL on the meetings you're there to attend! Anyway, have fun! Oh, across the strip from Ceasars Palace is a stand that sells the face/body sea salt stuff...an INCREDIBLE looking Iranian fellow will rub you all over...for free...gotta love it! Oh...he was a beautiful specimen!

Woofay - how blessed you are to be able to see him BEFORE he goes. It is difficult with us being so far from family...we've talked about spending the money/miles to see the grandma (no grandpas left) BEFORE they go instead of not being able to SAY something to them.

Crappy weather here lately...makes me want to shut myself in and do nothing with a book and a blanket...unfortunately (or fortunately) there are no book stores here and the library is about as big as a bus so I don't have a good book selection...I'll just order some today and hope that I can read in the sun! LOL!

Woofay - just noticing your weight loss. Incredible!

What's the consensus of how much we should be losing the first few months? Should I expect to have at least 30 lbs gone by September? I have a fill scheduled for 5 weeks after surgery (surgery in July, fill in Aug) and thinking that I'll be able to do another fill in Sept. I'm going on a cruise in Nov. and would like to be down a bit for that. I'm not expecting to by skinny (I AM realistic), but I think I'll lose around 10 before surgery and then maybe 30 by November...that'll make me feel GREAT for the hikes up "ancient temples" with my son!

Mal, I'm staying at Ballys.....I'm hoping to get in a good show or two in the evenings when I have free time!

Woofay...I'm really not into gambling that much, but I'm sure all those sparkly lights will be enticing! ;-) Yeah, hard to believe so many companies have conferences there...but hey, who am I to complain! :(

Marcy~Thanks about the weightloss. I would think you could reach those goals if you work at it. The crappy part thus far is, it's just like a diet because I don't have good restriction yet. I've always done okay with diets, just can't keep it off. (and I hate to exercise!)(surprised?) I'm hoping the 10th puts me in a better place and it won't just seem like a diet.

Also, I am blessed that we got to see grandpa yesterday, and he was aware and knew the kids were there. Yesterday, I wouldn't have said that it would be tonight. But I guess last night brought a turn for the worse. Still haven't heard from gramma, so I assume he is still with us. Wish I had a Ding Dong....:think

Thanks Mal! The neat part is, I do know that you guys are here for me! We have family flying in today and I need to pick them up at the airport today. So far just at the local Springs airport, but I wouldn't be surprised if I need to go to DIA today too...I haven't received any calls this morning, so again, I'm assuming he's still here. Maybe he's waiting for my husband's mom to get here. I worked with hospice units so long that I do know people hang in there for the right moment.

I kinda pigged out last night. I'm not sure I'll ever get rid of that food trigger during intense stress. I didn't pig out on what I really wanted, but I still did sorta. And I only mean that in a way that I ate without true hunger triggers. Rats.

Have a great day, All! I'll probably be on here between driving, instead of doing laundry and all the other stuff that needs to be done! Hee hee!

Woofay... I am sending you huge hugs girl!!

I am doing good. I turned 32 yesterday but I'm telling everyone I'm 27... what a dork, eh? I don't look 32, so at least I have that going for me! My knee is doing great. I have my last session of PT this afternoon. I skated for the first time in almost 3 months on Tuesday. it was freakin awesome!! I lasted over an hour straight and didn't fall. My balance is a bit shaky but I guess that's to be expected. I'm hoping to get back in action on July 16th. I see my doc on July 12 so you girls who I see that night will be the first to know how it went! I have lost 12 of the 14 pounds I gained after my knee surgery. Just 2 pounds away from my lowest now!

Here's a pic from my bday party on saturday!

Hey Mal. I went to Water aerobics again today. There was a different teacher there. I do love her style. She added some YOGA which was fantastic. I feel I got a focused workout today. I'm so out of shape. It's pathetic. My mother can do better than I can. But the teacher is younger, more my age and most of the ladies are my mother's age so it was like having a friend there. She played great music. It was just a super workout.

>>But I was in group and Dyno Mini has her own trainer which I LOVE that concept<<

But I'll stick with this. It works for me.

You know when it rains in pours it seems. The upside is atleast the cars will be fixed.

My fill is fantastic. I'm sailing along and feeling what RESTRICTION really feels like. I know when I'm full. It goes ...sssscreeeech.. and I dare not put one more bite in my mouth.

I think this next fill will set me for a few months. I'm right on the edge. I can still eat a little bit more than I think I should and breaking that habit is going to be a huge thing.

I do not regret one ounce having this Lap Band put in. I wish I'd done it sooner!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
